Drug compositions
Described herein are pharmaceutical compositions including a proton pump inhibitor and an antiparasitic drug. In some embodiments, the compositions can be formulated as a non-solid for oral administration. The compositions can be used to treat gastrointestinal conditions. Methods of treatment using the compositions are also described.
1. A method of treating a gastrointestinal ulcer, the method comprising:
administering an oral paste including about 22% w/v omeprazole, about 30% w/v fenbendazole, and a wetting agent formulated in a melted polyethylene glycol base agent to a mammal having the gastrointestinal ulcer, and
treating the gastrointestinal ulcer.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the administration is performed using an oral syringe.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mammal is a human, a horse, or a camel.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the gastrointestinal ulcer is greater than Grade 1.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the treating is clinical healing resulting in an ulcer score less than 1.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the treating is clinical healing resulting in an ulcer score of 0.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the treating is in less than about 30 days.
8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the treating is in less than about 14 days.
9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the administering is once daily.
10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the administering is twice daily.
11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the wetting agent is a polyethylene glycol.
12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the oral paste further includes sodium sulfite.
13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the oral paste further includes carboxymethyl cellulose.
14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the oral paste further includes sodium bicarbonate.
15. The method of claim 1 , wherein the oral paste further includes a flavoring agent.
