Abstract

A water treatment filter backwash process control system, comprising a control system that receives filter level data and filter backwash turbidity data. The control system having a filter level set point, wherein the filter level set point corresponds to a desired filter media bed expansion. The control system having a filter backwash turbidity set point, wherein the control system controls the filter backwash process by, while monitoring the filter backwash turbidity, sending one or more output signals that are used to control a backwash inlet liquid flow in order to maintain a desired media bed expansion, and stop the backwash inlet liquid flow when the filter backwash turbidity set point is reached.

Claims (23)

1. A water treatment filter control system, comprising:

a control system configured to receive filter media level data and in filter backwash turbidity data, the control system configured to use a filter media bed expansion level set point and an in filter backwash turbidity set point, wherein the control system is configured to control a filter backwash by monitoring an in filter backwash turbidity, generating one or more output signals to control a filter media bed expansion level based on the filter media bed expansion level set point, and reducing a backwash inlet liquid flow to the filter when the in filter backwash turbidity set point is reached.

2. The water treatment filter control system of claim 1 , wherein the control system is further configured to receive the filter media bed expansion level set point.

3. The water treatment filter control system of claim 1 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the filter media bed expansion level set point.

4. The water treatment filter control system of claim 1 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the filter media bed expansion level set point based on data analytics of historical filter measurement data.

5. The water treatment filter control system of claim 1 , wherein the control system is further configured to receive the in filter backwash turbidity set point.

6. The water treatment filter control system of claim 1 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the in filter backwash turbidity set point.

7. The water treatment filter control system of claim 1 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the in filter backwash turbidity set point based on data analytics of historical filter measurement data.

8. A method for controlling a water treatment filter, comprising:

providing a control system configured to receive filter media level data and in filter backwash turbidity data, the control system configured to use a filter media bed expansion level set point and an in filter backwash turbidity set point, wherein the control system is configured to control a filter backwash by monitoring an in filter backwash turbidity, generating one or more output signals to control a filter media bed expansion level based on the filter media bed expansion level set point, and reducing a backwash inlet liquid flow to the filter when the in filter backwash turbidity set point is reached.

9. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 8 , wherein the control system is further configured to receive the filter media bed expansion level set point.

10. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 8 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the filter media bed expansion level set point.

11. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 8 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the filter media bed expansion level set point based on data analytics of historical filter measurement data.

12. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 8 , wherein the control system is further configured to receive the in filter backwash turbidity set point.

13. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 8 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the in filter backwash turbidity set point.

14. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 8 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the in filter backwash turbidity set point based on data analytics of historical filter measurement data.

15. A method for controlling a water treatment filter, comprising:

providing a control system configured to receive filter media level data and in filter backwash turbidity data, the control system configured to use a filter media bed expansion level set point and an in filter backwash turbidity spike decline set point, wherein the control system is configured to control a filter backwash by monitoring an in filter backwash turbidity, generating one or more output signals to control a filter media bed expansion level based on the filter media bed expansion level set point, and reducing a backwash inlet liquid flow to the filter when the in filter backwash turbidity spike decline set point is reached.

16. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 15 , wherein the control system is further configured to receive the filter media bed expansion level set point.

17. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 15 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the filter media bed expansion level set point.

18. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 15 , wherein the control system is further configured to receive the in filter backwash turbidity spike decline set point.

19. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 15 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the in filter backwash turbidity spike decline set point.

20. The method for controlling a water treatment filter of claim 15 , wherein the control system is further configured to generate the in filter backwash turbidity spike decline set point based on data analytics of historical filter measurement data.
