Abstract

A retractable display configured as a plurality of interlinked display subassemblies or panels, a transport box having a lid configured to enclose the display system, the box or subassemblies having a rack system configured to support the plurality of linked display subassemblies in the transport box, a lift mechanism configured to assemble and disassemble the plurality of releasably interlinked display subassemblies into a seamless display, and an alignment system configured to align one display subassembly with a neighboring display subassembly and thus, functions as a rugged self-contained transport box of a plurality of interlinked display subassemblies capable of automated assembly into a seamless display larger than its transport box.

Claims (24)

1. A method of constructing a display system, the method comprising the steps of:

a) linking two or more display panels into two or more interlinked display panels, said two or more interlinked display panels comprising at least a first interlinked display panel and a second interlinked display panel, constructing each of said two or more interlinked display panels from one or more display sub-assemblies;

b) constructing each display sub-assembly according to a method comprising the steps of:

i) arranging a plurality of light emitters in a matrix pattern having a uniform pixel gap between adjacent light emitters;

c) providing each display panel with a uniform sub-assembly gap between adjacent light emitters on adjacent display sub-assemblies, configuring said sub-assembly gap to be substantially equal to said pixel gap;

d) configuring a plurality of support structures to collectively support the weight of said two or more interlinked display panels in a vertical display position;

e) aligning adjacent interlinked display panels by means of an alignment system comprising: an alignment protrusion and aperture configured to align said two or more interlinked display panels to form a substantially seamless display system;

f) the alignment system providing a uniform assembly gap between adjacent light emitters on adjacent interlinked display panels and further providing that said assembly gap and said pixel gap are substantially equal.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of configuring said two or more interlinked display panels as a single sided display.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of configuring said two or more interlinked display panels as a two sided display having a front display and a back display.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of:

configuring a first guide support surface and a second guide support surface to guide each of said two or more interlinked display panels.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising the step of offsetting said first guide support surface and said second guide support surface of said first interlinked display panel from another said first guide support surface and said second guide support surface of said second interlinked display panel.

6. The method of claim 5 further comprising the steps of:

a) configuring said plurality of support structures with a first movable support structure in connection with a first lift system; and,

b) configuring said plurality of support structures with a second movable support structure in connection with a second lift system.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising the steps of:

a) configuring said first lift system with a first lift hook; and,

b) configuring said second lift system with a second lift hook.

8. The method of claim 7 further comprising the steps of:

a) engaging said first interlinked display panel with said first lift hook;

b) engaging said second interlinked display panel with said second lift hook.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising the step of lifting said first interlinked display panel from an angled lateral storage position to said vertical display position.

10. The method of claim 9 further comprising the step of lifting said second interlinked display panel from an angled lateral storage position to said vertical display position.
