Abstract

Apparatuses and methods for configurable memory array bank architectures are described. An example apparatus includes a mode register configured to store information related to bank architecture and a memory array including a plurality of memory banks. The plurality of memory banks are configured to be arranged in a bank architecture based at least in part on the information related to bank architecture stored in the mode register.

Claims (9)

1. A method, comprising:

programming a value in a mode register of a memory for operands corresponding to one bank architecture selected from a set of three bank architectures, wherein each bank architecture of the set comprises a plurality of memory banks of the memory arranged according to the bank architecture selected by the value programmed in the mode register, wherein the value is programmed in the mode register of the memory for operands corresponding to the bank architecture selected for a first frequency set point;

programming a value in the mode register of the memory for operands corresponding to the bank architecture selected for a second frequency set point; and

providing a read/write command to the memory to access the plurality of memory banks according to the bank architecture, wherein behavior of the memory resulting from the read/write command depends at least in part on the selected bank architecture.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving data responsive to the access command having a first timing for a first bank architecture or having second timing for a second bank architecture.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein providing an access command to the memory comprises providing a first command and a second command having a first minimum timing when accessing a same bank group for a bank architecture with bank group mode configuration, and having a second minimum timing when accessing different bank groups for the bank architecture with bank group mode configuration.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein providing an access command to the memory comprises providing a first command and a second command having a minimum timing when accessing a same bank for a bank architecture with bank mode configuration, and having the minimum timing when accessing different banks for the bank architecture with bank mode configuration.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising switching between the first and second frequency set points to change the bank architecture.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the first and second frequency set points are included in a plurality of frequency set points programmed in the mode register.
