Methods and compositions for treating skin
The present disclosure generally relates to methods and compositions for treating skin. In some embodiments, the method uses an exfoliation tool. In some embodiments, the method uses an exfoliation tool together with selected skin care agents or compositions.
1. A skin care treatment kit comprising:
a first skin care composition,
an exfoliation tool, and
instructions for use,
wherein the first skin care composition comprises:
i) palmitoyl hexapeptide-14 and an optional peptide selected from the group consisting of sericin, collagen, keratin, amino acids, hexapeptide-21, myristoyl pentapeptide-8, myristoyl tetrapeptide-8, oligopeptide 10, palmitoyl oligopeptide, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, tetrapeptide-16, and derivatives and combinations thereof;
ii) at least one skin conditioning agent selected from the group consisting of emollient, humectant, occlusive agent, hyaluronic acid, alpha hydroxyl acids, glycolic acid, lactic acid, polyhydroxy acids, gluconolactone, lactobionic acid, beta hydroxyl acid, and derivatives and combinations thereof;
iii) dimethicone and an optional moisturizer selected from the group consisting of glycerin, triglycerides, natural oils, olive oil, jojoba oil, soybean oil, coconut oil, silicone, dormin, shea butter, lanolin, coco butter, and derivatives and combinations thereof; and
iv) at least one antioxidant selected from the group consisting of retinol, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), feverfew, hydroxytyrosol, CoQ 10, resveratrol, sirtuins, carotenoids, alpha lipoic acid, and derivatives and combinations thereof.
2. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the first skin care composition further comprises agents selected from the group consisting of abrasives, antiacne agents, antidandruff agents, antifungal agents, antimicrobial agents, antioxidants, toners, skin bleaching or lightening agents, proteins, cleaners, and combinations thereof.

The kit of claim 1 , wherein the emollient is selected from the group consisting of cyclopentasiloxane, ethylhexyl hydroxystearate, methicone, cyclomethicone, dormin, fatty acids, butyl myristate, myristyl myristate, oleate, C 1 -C 4 glycols, fatty acid glycols, glycol esters, glycerine, glycerols, paraffin, rapeseed oil, long chain alcohols, and derivatives and combinations thereof.

The kit of claim 1 , wherein the humectant is selected from the group consisting of ethyloxydiglycol, allatoin, agarose, arginine, benzyl hyaluronate, chitosan, copper, corn glycerides, gluconolactone, lactic acid, lactobionic acid, lactose, lysine, kombucha, maltitol, maltose, mannitol, propylene glycol, sodium aspartate, fructose, honey, hydroxyethyl urea, and derivatives and combinations thereof.

The kit of claim 1 , wherein the first skin care composition further comprises at least one abrasive selected from the group consisting of hydroxyapatite, alumina, aluminum silicate, apricot seed powder, attapulgite, avocado powder, bamboo powder, barley flour, bentonite, calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, calcium pyrophosphate, calcium sulfate, chalk, chitin, coconut shell powder, colloidal oatmeal, comfrey leaf powder, corn cob meal or powder, corn flour, corn meal, corn starch, diamond powder, diatomaceous earth, dicalcium phosphate, dicalcum phosphate dehydrate, egg shell powder, Fuller's earth, hydrated silica, kaolin, kiwi seed, lauryl acrylate polymers, loess, magnesium potassium fluorosilicate, magnesium trisilicate, microcrystalline cellulose, montmorillonite, Moroccan lava clay, oat bran, oat flour, oatmeal, oyster shell powder, peach pit powder, peanut flour, pecan shell powder, polyethylene, pumice, raspberry seed, rice bran, rye flour, sand, silica, sodium bicarbonate, sodium hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, sodium magnesium fluorosilicate, sodium silicoaluminate, soybean flour, sweet almond meal, talc, tin oxide, tricalcium phosphate, walnut shell powder, wheat bran, wheat flour, wheat powder, wheat starch, wood powder, zirconium silicate, and derivatives and combinations.
6. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the first skin care composition further comprises polysilicone-11.
7. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the exfoliation tool comprises a handle and a head, the head comprising a roller, a collar, and a plurality of acupuncture needles located on the roller.
8. The kit of claim 7 , wherein the needles on the exfoliation tool are from about 0.1 mm to about 0.5 mm in length.
9. The kit of claim 1 , further comprising a second skin care composition.
10. The kit of claim 9 , wherein the second skin care composition comprises agents selected from the group consisting of moisturizers, skin conditioners, humectants, emollients, proteins, hair conditioners, and combinations thereof.
11. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the instructions for use direct a user to follow the steps in order:
1. apply the first skin care composition,
2. contact the exfoliation tool to a user's skin divided into sections,
3. roll the exfoliation tool across the user's skin 4 to 10 times using moderate and comfortable pressure, and
optionally change the orientation of rolling over each section to ensure complete surface coverage.
12. The kit of claim 11 , wherein the user's skin is selected from the group consisting of scalp, face, neck, decolletage, body, back, arms, legs, hands, feet, chest, stomach, and buttocks.
13. The kit of claim 11 , wherein the instructions further direct the user to apply a second skin care composition.
14. The kit of claim 13 , wherein the instructions direct the user to apply the second skin care composition to the skin after step 1, before step 2, contacting the skin with the exfoliation tool.
15. The kit of claim 13 , wherein the instructions direct the user to apply the second skin care composition to the skin after step 3, rolling the skin with the exfoliation tool.
16. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the instructions for use direct a user to follow the steps in order:
1. contact the exfoliation tool to a user's skin divided into sections,
2. roll the exfoliation tool across the user's skin 4 to 10 times using moderate and comfortable pressure,
optionally change the orientation of rolling over each section to ensure complete surface coverage, and;
3. apply the first skin care composition.
17. The kit of claim 16 , wherein the user's skin is selected from the group consisting of scalp, face, neck, decolletage, body, back, arms, legs, hands, feet, chest, stomach, and buttocks.
18. The kit of claim 16 , wherein the instructions further direct the user to apply a second skin care composition.
19. The kit of claim 18 , wherein the instructions direct the user to apply the second skin care composition to the skin after step 2, before step 3, applying the first skin care composition.
20. The kit of claim 18 , wherein the instructions direct the user to apply the second skin care composition to the skin after step 3, applying the first skin care composition.
