Abstract

Systems and methods here may be used to sense product content in a container, send information to a local wireless device which may in turn, inform a back end system. In some embodiments, the systems and methods may then utilize the information about the container and send a message regarding inventory status, place an order for a re-fill, and/or aggregate usage data of the container.

Claims (48)

1. A system, comprising:

a container with a hollow body and an opening;

a cap removably attached to the container covering the opening;

a piezoelectric sensor positioned inside the removable cap, configured to sense the weight of the container and contents in the hollow body of the container;

a wireless communication system positioned in the removable cap;

a computing device in communication with the piezoelectric sensor and the wireless communication system, the computing device configured to,

receive a signal from the piezoelectric sensor regarding the sensed weight of the container and contents in the hollow body of the container and send data via the wireless communication system to a mobile device running an application regarding the sensed weight, and send time and date data to correlate with the weight data to the mobile device running the application;

a back end computer configured to receive the weight data from the piezoelectric sensor and the time and date data from the mobile device;

the back end computer further configured to predict, based on the weight data and the time and date data, when a new product needs to be ordered for the previously established customer profile and correlated customer account;

the back end computer further configured to send a push notification to the mobile device application indicating the predicted time when the new product needs to be ordered;

the back end computer further configured to order a replacement product to the customer account, if the determining indicates that a new product needs to be ordered within a predetermined window of time;

the back end computer further configured to send a prompt to the mobile device application, a request to order the replacement product to the customer account, if the determining indicates that the new product does not need to be ordered within the predetermined window of time.

2. The system of claim 1 further comprising a flowmeter positioned inside the container, the flowmeter configured to sense flow of material from the hollow body of the container through the opening.

3. The system of claim 2 wherein the flowmeter is further configured to communicate to the computing system regarding any sensed flow rates of material from the hollow body of the container through the opening.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein the wireless communication system is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) system or a WiFi system.

5. The system of claim 1 further including a vibration sensor to sense vibration and a tilt-ball sensor configured to sense bottle orientation.

6. A method comprising:

calibrating a removable cap to an application running on a first wireless computing device;

synchronizing the removable cap to a previously established customer profile by the application running on the first wireless computing device;

sensing a weight of a container and contents in a hollow body of the container by a piezoelectric sensor positioned inside the removable cap, the removable cap configured to fit over an opening in the container;

sending weight data from the piezoelectric sensor by a second wireless computing device positioned inside the removable cap to the first wireless computing device running the application;

sending time and date data to correlate with the weight data to the first wireless computing device running the application;

sending the weight data from the piezoelectric sensor and the time and date data to a back end computer by the first wireless computing device;

predicting at the back end computer, based on the weight data and the time and date data, when a new product needs to be ordered for the previously established customer profile and correlated customer account;

sending a push notification to the first wireless device application indicating the predicted time when the new product needs to be ordered;

ordering a replacement product to the customer account, if the determining indicates that a new product needs to be ordered within a predetermined window of time;

prompting, by the first wireless computing device application, a request to order the replacement product to the customer account, if the determining indicates that the new product does not need to be ordered within the predetermined window of time.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising, sensing, by a flowmeter positioned inside the container, flow of material from the hollow body of the container through the opening.

8. The method of claim 7 further comprising, communicating, by the flowmeter to the computing system, regarding any sensed flow rates of material from the hollow body of the container through the opening.

9. The method of claim 6 wherein the wireless communication system is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) system or a WiFi system.

10. The method of claim 6 further including sensing vibration by a vibration sensor and sensing bottle orientation by a tilt-ball sensor.

11. The method of claim 6 wherein the removable fit of the cap over the opening in the container includes a gasket to keep moisture out.

12. A system, comprising:

a container with a hollow body and an opening;

a cap removably attached to the container coving the opening;

a flow meter sensor positioned inside the removable cap, configured to sense the flow of material within the hollow body of the container as it flows through the container opening;

a wireless communication system positioned in the removable cap;

a computing device in communication with the flow meter and the wireless communication system, the computing device configured to,

receive a signal from the flow meter regarding the sensed discharge of material from the container and send data via the wireless communication system to a mobile device running an application, regarding the sensed flow of material and send time and date data to correlate with the weight data to the mobile device running the application;

a back end computer configured to receive the weight data from the piezoelectric sensor and the time and date data from the mobile device;

the back end computer further configured to predict, based on the weight data and the time and date data, when a new product needs to be ordered for the previously established customer profile and correlated customer account;

the back end computer further configured to send a push notification to the mobile device application indicating the predicted time when the new product needs to be ordered;

the back end computer further configured to order a replacement product to the customer account, if the determining indicates that a new product needs to be ordered within a predetermined window of time;

the back end computer further configured to send a prompt to the mobile device application, a request to order the replacement product to the customer account, if the determining indicates that the new product does not need to be ordered within the predetermined window of time.

13. The system of claim 12 further comprising a piezoelectric sensor positioned inside the cap, the piezoelectric sensor configured to determine a weight of the hollow body of the container and any material within the hollow body of the container.
