View Patent ↗Disclosed herein are cyclic peptides that induce cellular autophagy and have significant cell penetration activity. Methods for inducing autophagy and thereby treating various diseases and conditions associated with impaired autophagy are provided.

2. A method of inducing autophagy in a cell, the method comprising contacting the cell with an effective amount of the compound of claim 1 .
3. A method of treating a disease or condition associated with impaired autophagy in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising: administering to the subject an effective amount of the compound of claim 1 to treat the disease or condition associated with impaired autophagy.
4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 1 .

The method of claim 3 , wherein the disease or condition is selected from the group consisting of a neurodegenerative disorder, cancer, muscular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune and/or inflammatory disorder, infectious disease, metabolic disorder, innate immune disorder, adaptive immune disorder, aging, hepatic insulin resistance, diabetes, lysosomal storage disorder, muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis.
