Abstract

A computerized method of processing data for use in weather modeling is provided. The method includes receiving, from a first data source, by a first server, microwave link data including signal attenuation information. The method also includes pre-processing, in real time, by the first server, the microwave link data, thereby producing pre-processed microwave link data. The method also includes storing the pre-processed microwave link data in a first data store. The method also includes receiving, from the first data store, by a second server, the pre-processed microwave link data. The method also includes processing, on a scheduled routine, by the second server, the pre-processed microwave link data using a data transform, thereby producing first weather data.

Claims (48)

1. A computer-operated method for producing accurate, temporally-current weather forecasts comprising:

(a) receiving, with at least one processor, a request for geolocated weather information, the request having a geolocation parameter associated therewith;

(b) identifying, with the at least one processor, at least one temporal forecast time series from a time series of temporal forecasts associated with at least one cadence instance of a cadence cycle comprising a series of repeating processing operations that collect weather data, process weather data, and generate forecast weather data;

(c) in response to the geolocation parameter, the at least one processor selecting weather forecast information from the identified at least one temporal forecast time series associated with the at least one cadence instance of the cadence cycle; and

(d) based on the selecting weather forecast information, the at least one processor electronically providing temporally-updated geolocated weather forecast information in response to the request;

wherein the cadence cycle is not required to be synchronized with the series of repeating processing operations that collect weather data.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the request includes a time or time range and the identifying and selecting is performed based at least in part on the time or time range.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the weather forecast information is associated with a plurality of cadence instances of the cadence cycle.

4. The method of claim 1 further including updating the identified at least one temporal forecast time series with received weather information.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the selecting includes selecting weather forecast information associated with a past cadence instance.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the selecting includes selecting weather forecast information associated with a current cadence instance.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the selecting includes selecting weather forecast information associated with a cadence instance not more than X minutes old.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the selecting includes selecting weather forecast information associated with at least first and second cadence instances, the second cadence instance being older than the first cadence instance.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the selecting includes selecting weather forecast information from a future forecast associated with a current cadence instance.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein the selecting includes selecting weather forecast information from a future forecast associated with a past cadence instance.

11. A computer-operated system for producing accurate, temporally-current weather forecasts, the system comprising:

a storage storing instructions; and

a processor connected to the storage, the processor executing the stored instructions;

wherein the instructions comprise instructions that control the processor to:

(a) receive a request for geolocated weather information, the request having a geolocation parameter associated therewith;

(b) identify at least one temporal forecast time series from a time series of temporal forecasts associated with at least one cadence instance of a cadence cycle comprising a series of repeating processing operations that collect weather data, process weather data and generate forecast weather data;

(c) in response to the geolocation parameter, select weather forecast information from the identified at least one temporal forecast time series associated with the at least one cadence instance of the cadence cycle; and

(d) based on the selecting weather forecast information, electronically provide temporally-updated geolocated weather forecast information in response to the request,

wherein the cadence cycle is not required to be synchronized with the series of repeating processing operations that collect weather data.

12. The system of claim 11 wherein the request includes a time or time range and the processor is configured to identify and select based at least in part on the time or time range.

13. The system of claim 11 wherein the weather forecast information is associated with a plurality of cadence instances of the cadence cycle.

14. The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions configure the processor to update the identified at least one temporal forecast time series with received weather information.

15. The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information associated with a past cadence instance.

16. The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information associated with a current cadence instance.

17. The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information associated with a cadence instance not more than X minutes old.

18. The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information associated with at least first and second cadence instances, the second cadence instance being older than the first cadence instance.

19. The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information from a future forecast associated with a current cadence instance.

20. The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information from a future forecast associated with a past cadence instance.

21. A non-transitory computer-readable storage storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, control the processor to perform operations comprising:

(a) receive a request for geolocated weather information, the request having a geolocation parameter associated therewith;

(b) identify at least one temporal forecast time series from a time series of temporal forecasts associated with at least one cadence instance of a cadence cycle comprising a series of repeating processing operations that collect weather data, process weather data, and generate forecast weather data;

(c) in response to the geolocation parameter, select weather forecast information from the identified at least one temporal forecast time series of repeating processing operations that collect weather data, process weather data, and generate forecast weather data; and

(d) based on the selecting weather forecast information, electronically provide temporally-updated geolocated weather forecast information in response to the request,

wherein the cadence cycle is not required to be synchronized with the series of repeating processing operations that collect weather data.

22. The computer-readable storage of claim 21 wherein the request includes a time or time range and the stored instructions configure the processor to identify and select based at least in part on the time or time range.

23. The computer-readable storage of claim 21 wherein the weather forecast information is associated with a plurality of cadence instances of the cadence cycle.

24. The computer-readable storage of claim 21 wherein the instructions configure the processor to update the identified at least one temporal forecast time series with received weather information.

25. The computer-readable storage of claim 21 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information associated with a past cadence instance.

26. The computer-readable storage of claim 21 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information associated with a current cadence instance.

27. The computer-readable storage of claim 21 wherein the instructions configure the processor to select weather forecast information associated with a cadence instance not more than X minutes old.
