Abstract

The present invention relates to target acquisition and related devices, and more particularly to telescopic gunsights and associated equipment used to achieve shooting accuracy at, for example, close ranges, medium ranges and extreme ranges at stationary and moving targets.

Claims (42)

1. A reticle, comprising:

a) a first horizontal cross-hair;

b) a first vertical cross-hair that intersects said first horizontal cross-hair;

c) four or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs on said first vertical cross-hair below said first horizontal cross-hair wherein said four or more evenly spaced second horizontal cross-hairs on said first cross-hair below said first horizontal cross hair comprise alternating uninterrupted and interrupted second horizontal cross-hairs;

d) two or more wind dots to the left and two or more wind dots to the right of two or more of said horizontal cross-hairs on said first vertical cross-hair below said first horizontal cross-hair wherein said two or more wind dots to the left and two or more wind dots to the right of said two or more of said horizontal cross-hairs on said first vertical cross-hair below said first horizontal cross-hair are to the left and to the right of two or more of said uninterrupted second horizontal cross-hairs, wherein said two or more wind dots to the left and two or more wind dots to the right of said two or more of said horizontal cross-hairs on said first vertical cross-hair below said first horizontal cross-hair are not to the left and to the right of two or more of said interrupted second horizontal cross-hairs; and

e) range finder markings above said first horizontal cross-hair.

2. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said first horizontal cross-hair is a line.

3. The reticle of claim 2 , wherein said line is a straight line.

4. The reticle of claim 3 , wherein said straight line is an uninterrupted straight line.

5. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said first horizontal cross-hair has a predetermined thickness.

6. The reticle of claim 5 , wherein said predetermined thickness is a single thickness along said first horizontal cross-hair.

7. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said first vertical cross-hair is a line.

8. The reticle of claim 7 , wherein said line is a straight line.

9. The reticle of claim 8 , wherein said straight line is an uninterrupted straight line.

10. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said first vertical cross-hair has a predetermined thickness.

11. The reticle of claim 10 , wherein said predetermined thickness is a single thickness along said first vertical cross-hair.

12. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said first horizontal cross-hair and said first vertical cross-hair physically cross at an intersection point wherein said intersection point is a cross, a dot, or a shape.

13. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said first horizontal cross-hair and said first vertical cross-hair physically cross at an intersection point wherein said intersection point is a gap.

14. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said four or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs is an uninterrupted straight line.

15. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said four or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs has a predetermined thickness.

16. The reticle of claim 15 , wherein said predetermined thickness is a single thickness along said at least one of said four or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs.

17. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said four or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs is shorter in length than said first horizontal cross-hair.

18. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said two or more vertical cross-hairs on said evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs is an uninterrupted straight line.

19. The reticle of claim 1 , further comprising a zero aiming point at the intersection of said first horizontal cross-hair and said first vertical cross-hair.

20. The reticle of claim 1 , further comprising at least one horizontal cross-hair on said first vertical cross-hair above said first horizontal cross-hair.

21. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said first horizontal cross-hair is an interrupted straight line and wherein said first vertical cross-hair is an interrupted straight line, further comprising an aiming dot at an interrupted intersection of said first horizontal cross-hair and said first vertical cross-hair.

22. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said four or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs on said first vertical cross-hair below said first horizontal cross-hair are 10 or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs.

23. The reticle of claim 1 , further comprising two or more vertical lead markings on said first horizontal cross-hair.

24. The reticle of claim 23 , wherein said range finder markings above said first horizontal cross-hair comprise two or more horizontal line rangefinder markings above said vertical lead markings to the left of said primary vertical cross-hair and two or more horizontal line rangefinder markings above said vertical lead markings to the right of said primary vertical cross-hair.

25. The reticle of claim 24 , wherein said two or more horizontal rangefinder markings are unevenly spaced above said two or more vertical lead markings.

26. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said two or more horizontal line rangefinder markings are identified by numbers.

27. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein a fit between a dimension of an image of an object of known size within a predetermined distance of one or more said horizontal line rangefinder markings above said primary horizontal cross-hair provides a range to said object.

28. The reticle of claim 1 , further comprising a horizontal line rangefinder that intersects said primary vertical cross-hair at a position above said primary horizontal cross-hair.

29. The reticle of claim 1 , wherein said wind dots are solid wind dots or circle wind dots.

30. A reticle, comprising:

a) a first horizontal cross-hair;

b) a first vertical cross-hair that intersects said first horizontal cross-hair;

c) four or more evenly spaced horizontal cross-hairs on said first vertical cross-hair below said first horizontal cross-hair;

d) two or more wind dots to the left and two or more wind dots to the right of two or more of said horizontal cross-hairs on said first vertical cross-hair below said first horizontal cross-hair;

e) range finder markings above said first horizontal cross-hair; and

f) two or more vertical lead markings on said first horizontal cross-hair wherein said range finder markings above said first horizontal cross-hair comprise two or more horizontal line rangefinder markings above said vertical lead markings to the left of said primary vertical cross-hair and two or more horizontal line rangefinder markings above said vertical lead markings to the right of said primary vertical cross-hair.
