Abstract

A medical manipulator is disclosed, which includes a multiple-degree freedom arm, which can be mounted with a medical instrument; a memory configured to retain an insertion port position indicating a spatial position of an insertion port for inserting the medical instrument mounted in the multiple-degree freedom arm into a human body; and a controller configured to determine an insertion posture of the medical instrument so as to cause an extended line of a major axis of the medical instrument to pass through the spatial position indicated by the insertion port position, and configured to move the multiple-degree freedom arm to the determined insertion posture.

Claims (53)

1. A surgery system comprising:

a multiple-degree freedom arm, to which a medical instrument can be mounted;

a memory configured to retain an insertion port position indicating a spatial position of an insertion port for inserting the medical instrument mounted in the multiple-degree freedom arm into a human body;

a master arm configured to receive a first instruction to move the multiple-degree freedom arm to make a movement of the medical instrument;

a touch panel display configured to receive a second instruction by a user; and

a controller configured to control the multiple-degree freedom arm based on the first instruction received by the master arm or the second instruction received by the touch panel display, wherein the controller is configured to:

determine whether or not an in-operation signal is turned on;

when the in-operation signal is turned on, control the multiple-degree freedom arm to move based on the first instruction received by the master arm; and

when the in-operation signal is not turned on, determine an insertion posture of the medical instrument at an outside of the human body so as to cause an extended line of a major axis of the medical instrument to pass through the spatial position indicated by the insertion port position, and move the multiple-degree freedom arm so that the medical instrument is in the determined insertion posture at the outside of the human body based on the second instruction of the user via the touch panel.

2. The surgery system according to claim 1 , wherein the medical instrument includes a shaft portion which is inserted into the human body; and

wherein the controller is configured to determine the insertion posture so as to cause a major axis of the shaft portion of the medical instrument to be coincided on a straight line connecting the spatial position designated by the user and the insertion port position.

3. The surgery system according to claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to retain an insertion direction corresponding to the insertion port position;

the medical instrument including a shaft portion which is inserted into the human body; and

wherein the controller is configured to determine the insertion posture so as to cause the insertion direction and a direction of the major axis of the shaft portion of the medical instrument to coincide with each other.

4. The surgery system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the controller is configured to cause the multiple-degree freedom arm to follow the first instruction, which is an operation of the master arm.

The surgery system according to claim 4 , wherein the controller is configured to move a distal end portion of the medical instrument to spatial coordinates instructed by the operation of the master arm while maintaining a state where the medical instrument passes through the insertion port position.

The surgery system according to claim 4 , wherein the controller is configured to move a distal end portion of the medical instrument to spatial coordinates instructed by the operation of the master arm while maintaining a state where the medical instrument passes through the insertion port position and an insertion amount of the medical instrument with respect to the insertion port position does not exceed a maximum insertion amount.

7. The surgery system according to claim 2 , further comprising:

an input device configured to receive a third instruction for determining the insertion posture from the user.

8. The surgery system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the controller is configured to notify, on the touch panel display, a completion of the movement of the insertion posture.

The surgery system according to claim 1 , wherein, when the in-operation signal is not turned on, the controller is configured to control the multiple-degree freedom arm so as to perform a posture alignment operation in which a position and a posture of the medical instrument are aligned with the insertion posture.

10. The surgery system according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to fix a predetermined number of axes of the multiple-degree freedom arm on a base side and to determine the insertion posture which is realized by applying rotation of an unfixed axis; and

wherein the controller is configured to fix the predetermined number of the axes and to control movement to realize the insertion posture by rotating the unfixed axis.

11. A surgery system comprising:

a multiple-degree freedom arm, to which a medical instrument can be mounted;

a master arm configured that to receive a first instruction to move the multiple-degree freedom arm to make a movement of the medical instrument;

a memory configured to retain an insertion port position indicating a spatial position of an insertion port for inserting the medical instrument mounted in the multiple-degree freedom arm into a human body;

an input device including a touch panel display configured to receive a second instruction by a user; and

a controller configured to control the multiple-degree freedom arm based on the first instruction received by the master arm or the second instruction received by the touch panel display, wherein the controller is configured to:

determine whether or not an in-operation signal is turned on;

when the in-operation signal is not turned on, determine an insertion posture of the medical instrument so as to cause an extended line of a major axis of the medical instrument to pass through the spatial position indicated by the insertion port position based on the second instruction of the user via the touch panel display, and control the multiple-degree freedom arm so as to realize the determined insertion posture at an outside of the human body; and

when the in-operation signal is turned on, control the multiple-degree freedom arm so as to move a distal end portion of the medical instrument to spatial coordinates based on the first instruction received by the master arm while maintaining a state where the medical instrument passes through the insertion port position.

A method for moving a medical instrument in a surgery system, wherein the surgery system includes a multiple-degree freedom arm to which a medical instrument can be mounted, a master arm configured to receive a first instruction to move the multiple-degree freedom arm to make a movement of the medical instrument, a touch panel display configured to receive a second instruction by a user, and a memory, the method comprising:

determining whether or not an in-operation signal is turned on;

when the in-operation signal is turned on, controlling the multiple-degree freedom arm to move based on the first instruction received by the master arm;

when the in-operation signal is not turned on, teaching an insertion port position indicating a spatial position of an insertion port for inserting the medical instrument mounted in the multiple-degree freedom arm into a human body;

storing the insertion port position to the memory;

determining an insertion posture of the medical instrument at an outside of the human body so as to cause an extended line of a major axis of the medical instrument to pass through the spatial position indicated by the insertion port position; and

moving the multiple-degree freedom arm to the determined insertion posture at the outside of the human body based on the second instruction of the user via the touch panel display.

13. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the teaching step is performed by coinciding a distal end portion of the medical instrument with a trocar position of a patient in a manual manner and calculating a three-dimensional coordinates of the distal end portion; and

the storing step is performed by storing a calculated result to the memory as the insertion port position.

14. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the first instruction includes an operation of the master arm and

the multiple-degree freedom arm follows the operation of the master arm.

The method according to claim 14 , wherein the controlling the multiple-degree freedom arm performs by moving a distal end portion of the medical instrument to spatial coordinates instructed by the operation of the master arm while maintaining a state where the medical instrument passes through the insertion port position.

The method according to claim 15 , wherein the moving step is performed by moving the distal end portion of the medical instrument to spatial coordinates instructed by the operation of the master arm while maintaining a state where the medical instrument passes through the insertion port position and an insertion amount of the medical instrument with respect to the insertion port position does not exceed a maximum insertion amount.

The method according to claim 15 , wherein the moving step is performed by moving the distal end portion of the medical instrument to spatial coordinates instructed by the operation of the master arm while maintaining a state where the medical instrument passes through the insertion port position and an insertion amount of the medical instrument with respect to the insertion port position becomes equal to or greater than a minimum insertion amount.

18. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the teaching, determining, storing and moving steps are performed before the controlling step.

19. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the surgery system comprises at least one input devices configured to receive a third instruction from the user; and

wherein the storing step is performed by storing the insertion port position to the memory based on the third instruction of the input device.

20. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the surgery system comprises at least one input device configured to receive a third instruction from the user; and

wherein the moving step is performed by the multiple-degree freedom arm to the determined insertion posture based on the third instruction of the input device.
