Abstract

A surgery system that includes a multiple-degree freedom slave arm, which is able to be mounted with a surgical instrument and includes a plurality of joints and a plurality of motors corresponding the respective joints of the plurality of joints; a first input device configured to operate the multiple-degree freedom slave arm; a second input device configured to operate the multiple-degree freedom slave arm and different from the first input device; and a controller configured to control the multiple-degree freedom slave arm so that the multiple-degree freedom slave arm is operated by one of the first input device and the second input device.

Claims (55)

1. A remote operation-type surgery system comprising:

a motorized multiple-degree freedom arm, which includes a plurality of motorized rotational axes and a mounting portion which is configured for detachably mounting of a surgical instrument;

an operation unit configured to output commands to control the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm to move the surgical instrument;

a memory configured to store a plurality of position information;

an input device configured to receive an input to select one of the plurality of the position information; and

a controller configured to automatically adjust a posture of the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm based on the selected one of the plurality of the position information in accordance with the input received by the input device; wherein

the controller is further configured to:

determine whether or not an in-operation signal is turned on; and

while the in-operation signal is turned on, control the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm to move the surgical instrument in accordance with the output commands from the operation unit.

2. The surgery system according to claim 1 , wherein

the input device includes a touch panel that provides a graphical user interface to select the one of the plurality of the position information.

3. The surgery system according to claim 2 , wherein

when a posture adjustment is complete, the controller is configured to notify through the graphical user interface that the posture adjustment is complete.

4. The surgery system according to claim 1 , wherein the operation unit includes a master arm; and

the controller is configured to control the motorized multi-degree-of-freedom arm to move a distal end portion of the surgical instrument to a position designated by the master arm.

5. The surgery system according to claim 4 , wherein the master arm includes a switch.

6. The surgery system according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to:

when it is determined the in-operation signal is turned on, move the surgical instrument in accordance with the commands output by the operation unit.

7. The surgery system according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a switch device configured to turn on or off the in-operation signal.

8. A remote operation-type surgery system comprising:

a motorized multiple-degree freedom arm, which includes a plurality of motorized rotational axes and a mounting portion which is configured for detachably mounting of a surgical instrument;

an operation unit configured to output commands to control the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm to move the surgical instrument;

a memory configured to store a plurality of position information;

an input device configured to receive an input to select one of the plurality of position information; and

a controller configured to:

conduct a posture alignment of the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm in one of first and second modes, wherein

in the first mode, the controller is configured to automatically adjust a posture of the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm based on the selected one of the plurality of position information, and

in the second mode, the controller is configured to allow to adjust the posture of the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm manually, wherein

the controller is configured to:

determine whether or not an in-operation signal is turned on; and

while the in-operation signal is turned on, control the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm to move the surgical instrument in accordance with the output commands from the operation unit.

9. The surgery system according to claim 8 , wherein

in the second mode, the controller is configured to, while at least one predetermined motorized rotation axis is fixed, allow to move the other of the motorized rotational axes manually.

10. The surgery system according to claim 8 , wherein the input device is configured to designate one of the first and second modes.

11. The surgery system according to claim 10 , wherein

the input device includes a touch panel that provides a graphical user interface to designate one of the first and second modes.

12. The surgery system according to claim 8 , wherein

the operation unit includes a master arm, and

the controller is configured to control the motorized multi-degree-of-freedom arm to move a distal end portion of the surgical instrument to a position designated by the master arm while the in-operation signal is turned on.

13. The surgery system according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured to:

when the first mode is set, prohibit controlling of the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm to move the surgical instrument in accordance with the commands output by the operation unit and automatically adjust the posture of the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm based on the selected one of the plurality of position information.

14. The surgery system according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured to:

when the second mode is set, prohibit controlling the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm to move the surgical instrument in accordance with the commands output by the operation unit and allow to adjust the posture of the motorized multiple-degree freedom arm manually.

15. A method of controlling a remote operation-type surgery system, the method comprising:

receiving an input to select, by a user interface, a pre-set position from a plurality of pre-set positions in a memory, the remote operation-type surgery system comprising a multiple-degree freedom arm that includes a plurality of motorized rotational axes and changes a posture by changing angle of at least one of the rotational axes, each of the plurality of pre-set positions being different each other;

outputting a control signal to the multiple-degree freedom arm to conduct a posture alignment with the selected pre-set position;

determining whether or not an in-operation signal is turned on; and

while the in-operation signal is turned on, controlling the multiple-degree freedom arm to move a surgical instrument mounted on the multiple-degree freedom arm in accordance with output commands from an operation unit different from the user interface.

16. The method according to claim 15 , further comprising:

when the posture adjustment is complete, notifying through a graphical user interface provided by a touch panel that the posture adjustment is complete.
