Abstract

The invention provides systems and methods for mounting a fuel system to a vehicle. In some embodiments, the invention provides systems and methods for mounting a fuel system comprising a fuel tank to a vehicle chassis using a bracket, which may be a multi-part bracket, and may be referred to as a “drop and go” bracket.

Claims (23)

1. A drop and go bracket comprising:

a chassis bracket attachable to a vehicle chassis; and

a frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket attachable to a vehicle equipment;

wherein the chassis bracket comprises a groove and a pin at a separate location from the groove;

wherein the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket comprises a cut-out and another pin at a separate location from the cut-out; and

wherein the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are connected to one another when the cut-out of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket engages with the pin of the chassis bracket when the pin of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket slides into the groove of the chassis bracket, such that the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are fixed relative to one another in a lateral direction and in a vertical direction.

2. The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein the cut-out has a semicircular or ellipsoidal shape.

3. The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein the cut-out of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket is inter-locked with the pin of the chassis bracket when the pin of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket slides into an end position of the groove of the chassis bracket.

4. The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are connected to one another without aid of additional fasteners.

5. The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein the drop and go bracket comprises a surface to which a top plate is fastened after the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are connected to one another.

The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein after the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are connected to one another, the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are separable from one another via a combination of motions in both the lateral direction and the vertical direction, including rotation of the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket relative to one another.

7. The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle equipment comprises a vehicle fuel system.

8. The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle equipment comprises a box for a battery.

9. The drop and go bracket of claim 1 , wherein a top surface of the chassis bracket and a top surface of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are configured to be substantially aligned.

The drop and go bracket of claim 9 , wherein the top surface of the chassis bracket and the top surface of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket are flat and configured such that a plate would be flush against the top surface of the chassis bracket and the top surface of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket.

11. The drop and go bracket of claim 10 , wherein the plate is configured to keep the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket connected to one another, so as to prevent the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket from slipping apart.

12. A method for mounting a frame mountable vehicle equipment to a vehicle, the method comprising:

attaching a chassis bracket to a vehicle chassis, wherein the chassis bracket comprises a groove and a pin at a separate location from the groove;

attaching a frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket to a vehicle equipment, wherein the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket comprises a cut-out and a pin at a separate location from the cut-out; and

connecting the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket to one another by sliding the pin of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket into the groove of the chassis bracket and engaging the cut-out of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket with the pin of the chassis bracket, thereby fixing the chassis bracket and the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket relative to one another in a lateral direction and in a vertical direction.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the vehicle equipment comprises a vehicle fuel system.

14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the vehicle equipment comprises a box for a battery.

15. The method of claim 12 , further comprising attaching a plate to both a top surface of the chassis bracket and a top surface of the frame mountable vehicle equipment bracket.
