Abstract

A memory device includes a memory component that stores data and a processor. The processor may receive requests from a requesting component to perform a plurality of data operations, generate a plurality of packets associated with the plurality of data operations, and continuously transmit each of the plurality of packets until each of the plurality of packets are transmitted. Each of the plurality of packets after the first packet of the plurality of packets is transmitted on a subsequent clock cycle immediately after a previous packet is transmitted.

Claims (18)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving, at a memory device, a stream of bits comprising a plurality of packets, wherein a portion of a first packet of the plurality of packets corresponds to a level of indirection field comprising a binary value representative of a number of pointers associated with performing a request that corresponds to the first packet;

determining the number of pointers based at least in part on the binary value in the level of indirection field; and

performing one or more operations on memory based at least in part on the number of pointers, wherein the one or more operations comprise one or more read operations, one or more write operations, or any combination thereof.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising retrieving contents of a memory location specified within the first packet based at least in part on the number of pointers.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the number of pointers corresponds to a number of addresses accessed to access data associated with the request.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the operations comprise:

reading an address of the memory based on the request, wherein the address comprises a linked list comprising a number of addresses that corresponds to the number of pointers;

parsing the linked list to identify a final address of the number of addresses; and

writing data in the memory based on the final address without accessing other addresses in the number of addresses.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the binary value is representative of one of four that corresponds to the number of pointers.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the operations comprise:

reading an address of the memory based on the request, wherein the address comprises a linked list comprising a number of addresses that corresponds to the number of pointers;

parsing the linked list to identify a final address of the number of addresses; and

reading data from the memory based on the final address without accessing other addresses in the number of addresses.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the binary value of the level of indirection field is determined based on a software command associated with the first packet.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the operations comprise parsing a linked list to identify a plurality of addresses based on the number of pointers.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the stream of bits corresponds to data associated with an n-dimensional array, and wherein the number of pointers is equal to n.
