GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE DIVIDED NAVIGATION
Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for unifying graphical user interface (GUI) displays across different device types. In an embodiment, a unification system may convert various GUI view appearing on, for example, a desktop device into a GUI view on a mobile device. Both devices may be accessing the same application and/or may use a cloud computing platform to access the application. The unification system may aid in reproducing GUI modifications performed on one user device onto other user devices. In this manner, the unification system may maintain a consistent look-and-feel for a user across different computing device type.
1 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
generating an instance of a graphical user interface (GUI) having a first GUI portion and a second GUI portion;
receiving a selection interaction at the first GUI portion;
identifying the selection interaction at the first GUI portion as a cursor gesture; and
in response to the identifying, generating a GUI cursor on the second GUI portion.
2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
in response to generating the GUI cursor on the second portion, detecting horizontal movement of the selection interaction; and
in response to the detecting, moving the GUI cursor in a direction corresponding to the horizontal movement.
3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the identifying further comprises:
measuring an elapsed time corresponding to the selection interaction remaining in contact with the first GUI portion.
4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 3 , wherein generating the GUI cursor further comprises:
generating the GUI cursor in response to detecting that the elapsed time has exceeded a predetermined threshold.
5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the second GUI portion is located vertically above the first GUI portion on the GUI.
6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the selection interaction is a long press.
7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
identifying a release of the selection interaction; and
in response to the identifying, executing an action corresponding to a location of the cursor on the second GUI portion.
8 . A system, comprising:
a memory; and
at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to:
generate an instance of a graphical user interface (GUI) having a first GUI portion and a second GUI portion;
receive a selection interaction at the first GUI portion;
identify the selection interaction at the first GUI portion as a cursor gesture; and
in response to the identifying, generate a GUI cursor on the second GUI portion.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
in response to generating the GUI cursor on the second portion, detect horizontal movement of the selection interaction; and
in response to the detecting, move the GUI cursor in a direction corresponding to the horizontal movement.
10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein to identify the selection interaction, the at least one processor is further configured to:
measure an elapsed time corresponding to the selection interaction remaining in contact with the first GUI portion.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein to generate the GUI cursor, the at least one processor is further configured to:
generate the GUI cursor in response to detecting that the elapsed time has exceeded a predetermined threshold.
12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the second GUI portion is located vertically above the first GUI portion on the GUI.
13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the selection interaction is a long press.
14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
identify a release of the selection interaction; and
in response to the identifying, execute an action corresponding to a location of the cursor on the second GUI portion.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable device having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by at least one computing device, cause the at least one computing device to perform operations comprising:
generating an instance of a graphical user interface (GUI) having a first GUI portion and a second GUI portion;
receiving a selection interaction at the first GUI portion;
identifying the selection interaction at the first GUI portion as a cursor gesture; and
in response to the identifying, generating a GUI cursor on the second GUI portion.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable device of claim 15 , the operations further comprising:
in response to generating the GUI cursor on the second portion, detecting horizontal movement of the selection interaction; and
in response to the detecting, moving the GUI cursor in a direction corresponding to the horizontal movement.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable device of claim 15 , wherein the identifying further comprises:
measuring an elapsed time corresponding to the selection interaction remaining in contact with the first GUI portion; and
generating the GUI cursor further comprises:
generating the GUI cursor in response to detecting that the elapsed time has exceeded a predetermined threshold.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable device of claim 15 , wherein the second GUI portion is located vertically above the first GUI portion on the GUI.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable device of claim 15 , wherein the selection interaction is a long press.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable device of claim 19 , the operations further comprising:
identifying a release of the selection interaction; and
in response to the identifying, executing an action corresponding to a location of the cursor on the second GUI portion.
