Abstract

There are provided a light emitting unit using a wavelength conversion member which may be put to practical use, and a display and a lighting apparatus which include the light emitting unit. The light emitting unit includes: a light source; an optical part including a light incident surface, the light incident surface facing the light source; a wavelength conversion member provided between the light source and the light incident surface; and a holding member holding the wavelength conversion member at a position between the light source and the light incident surface of the optical part.

Claims (22)

1. A light emitting unit comprising:

a light source;

an optical part including a light incident surface, the light incident surface facing the light source;

a wavelength conversion member comprising a sealed tubular container containing a wavelength conversion material comprising quantum dots, the sealed tubular container being provided between the light source and the light incident surface; and

a holding member holding the wavelength conversion member at a position between the light source and the light incident surface of the optical part such that there is an empty space between the light source and the sealed tubular container,

wherein the holding member includes a first lock section and a second lock section, the first lock section being provided nearer to the light source than the optical part, the second lock section being provided nearer to the optical part than the light source, and the wavelength conversion member is fixed between the first lock section and the second lock section, a thickness of the first lock section is equal to a distance between a light emission surface of the light source and the wavelength conversion member,

wherein the holding member includes an eaves section that holds the optical part, the eaves section being disposed on an outer side of the second lock section,

wherein the holding member comprises a top face section and a bottom face section, the top face section including the first lock section, second lock section, and the eaves section, and the bottom face section including another first lock section, another second lock section, and another eaves section, and

wherein the optical part is interposed between the eaves section and the another eaves section.

2. The light emitting unit according to claim 1 , wherein the eaves section is planar in shape and another part of the top face section is planar in shape, and the eaves section and the another part of the top face section are coplanar, and wherein the another eaves section is planar in shape and another part of the bottom face section is planar in shape, and the another eaves section and the another part of the bottom face section are coplanar.

3. The light emitting unit according to claim 1 , further comprising a reflective member, and wherein the reflective member and the optical part are interposed between the eaves section and the another eaves section.

4. The light emitting unit according to claim 3 , wherein the eaves section is planar in shape and another part of the top face section is planar in shape, and the eaves section and the another part of the top face section are coplanar, and wherein the another eaves section is planar in shape and another part of the bottom face section is planar in shape, and the another eaves section and the another part of the bottom face section are coplanar.

5. The light emitting unit according to claim 1 , wherein the eaves section and the optical part are fixed together, and the another eaves section and the optical part are fixed together.

6. The light emitting unit according to claim 5 , wherein the eaves section and the optical part are fixed together by and adhesive, and the another eaves section and the optical part are fixed together by an adhesive.

7. A light emitting unit comprising:

a light source;

an optical part including a light incident surface, the light incident surface facing the light source;

a wavelength conversion member comprising a sealed tubular container containing a wavelength conversion material comprising quantum dots, the sealed tubular container being provided between the light source and the light incident surface; and

a holding member holding the wavelength conversion member at a position between the light source and the light incident surface of the optical part such that there is an empty space between the light source and the sealed tubular container,

wherein a thickness of the holding member is equal to a distance between a light emission surface of the light source and the wavelength conversion member,

wherein the holding member comprises a top face section and a bottom face section, and the wavelength conversion member is positioned between the top face section and the bottom face section, and

wherein the holding member comprises an eaves section and another eaves section, and the optical part is positioned between the eaves section and the another eaves section.
