Abstract

This invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition having thrombolytic activity comprising ADAMTS13, and to methods for treating or preventing a disorder associated with the formation and/or the presence of one or more thrombus and to methods of disintegrating one or more thrombus in a patient in need thereof. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of a pharmaceutically effective amount of ADAMTS13 for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing a disorder associated with the formation or the presence of one or more thrombus and for disintegrating one or more thrombus in a patient in need thereof.

Claims (17)

1. A method of treating deep vein thrombosis in a patient, the method comprising intravenously administering isolated or recombinant ADAMTS13 to the patient.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the ADAMTS13 is administered by injection.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the ADAMTS13 is administered by infusion.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient is a human patient.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein a pharmaceutically effective amount of ADAMTS13 is administered to the patient.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient is not diagnosed with a condition characterized by a deficiency of ADAMTS13 protein.

7. A method of treating deep vein thrombosis in a patient, the method comprising intravenously administering a chimeric molecule comprising Ig and isolated or recombinant ADAMTS13.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the ADAMTS13 is administered by infusion.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the patient is a human patient.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein a therapeutically effective amount of recombinant ADAMTS13 is administered to a human patient.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the recombinant ADAMTS13 is human recombinant ADAMTS13 and the therapeutically effective amount is 0.1 to 20 mg/kg body weight.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein a therapeutically effective amount of recombinant ADAMTS13 is administered to a human patient.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the recombinant ADAMTS13 is human recombinant ADAMTS13 and the therapeutically effective amount is 0.1 to 20 mg/kg body weight.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein said therapeutically effective amount of recombinant ADAMTS13 inhibits thrombus formation in microvenules.

15. The method of claim 12 , wherein said therapeutically effective amount of recombinant ADAMTS13 inhibits thrombus formation in microvenules.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the patient is not diagnosed with a condition characterized by a deficiency of ADAMTS13 protein.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the patient is not diagnosed with a condition characterized by a deficiency of ADAMTS13 protein.
