Abstract

A smart charging solution is provided. The smart charging solution includes a power supply, a power line connected to the power supply and at least one universal serial bus (USB) splitter module and/or wireless charging module. The smart charging solution further includes a cable compensation integrated circuit (IC) for improved output voltage stabilization and a locking mechanism for furniture installation.

Claims (46)

1. A smart charging system comprising:

a plurality of universal serial bus (USB) splitter modules that are positioned in a housing; and

a power line configured to distribute received power to the plurality of USB splitter modules,

wherein each of the plurality of USB splitter modules comprise a USB port configured to output power to an external device, and

wherein the housing further includes an accelerometer configured to detect an amount of motion.

2. The smart charging system of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of USB splitter modules further comprise a direct current (DC)/DC converter.

3. The smart charging system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a data wire line that is configured to connect to each of the plurality of USB splitter modules, wherein the data wire line is separate from the power line and is configured to only transmit data between each of the plurality of USB splitter modules.

4. The smart charging system of claim 1 , wherein the housing further includes a light emitting diode (LED) light that is configured to be activated when the accelerometer detects that the amount of motion is greater than a predetermined threshold.

5. The smart charging system of claim 1 , wherein the housing further includes a light emitting diode (LED) light that is configured to be activated while the power is output to the external device.

6. The smart charging system of claim 1 , wherein the housing further includes a light emitting diode (LED) light that is configured to be activated based on a charging or discharging level of the external device, and

upon activation, the LED light is configured to display light at a predetermined intensity level or adjust a plurality of individual LED lights based on the charging or discharging level.

7. The smart charging system of claim 1 , wherein the housing further includes a vibrator configured to be activated when the accelerometer detects that the amount of motion is greater than a predetermined threshold.

8. The smart charging system of claim 1 , wherein power is supplied to the plurality of USB splitter modules from a rechargeable battery pack, and the smart charging system further comprises a battery pack controller including an integrated circuit (IC) configured to monitor battery pack power levels and output power from the battery pack through the power line.

9. The smart charging system of claim 1 , further comprising a cable compensation integrated circuit (IC) configured to detect a charging specification of the external device and adjust the output power based on the detected charging specification.

10. A smart charging system comprising:

a plurality of universal serial bus (USB) splitter modules that are positioned in a housing, wherein the plurality of USB splitter modules comprise at least one USB port to output power to an external device;

a power supply unit configured to receive power at a first voltage level;

at least one cable compensation integrated circuit (IC) configured to receive a first set of charging specification from an external IC in the external device when at least one of the plurality of USB splitter modules is connected to the external device through the at least one USB port;

a direct current (DC)/DC converter configured to reduce the first voltage level of the received power from the first voltage level to a second voltage level based in the first set of charging specifications received from the external IC; and

a power line configured to distribute the received power to the plurality of USB splitter modules,

wherein the at least one cable compensation IC is further configured to receive a second set of charging specification from the external IC in the external device for the DC/DC converter to regulate charging in real time.

11. The smart charging system of claim 10 , wherein a first USB splitter module among the plurality of USB splitter modules is configured to output the power at the first voltage level, and a second USB splitter module among the plurality of USB splitter modules is configured to output the power at the second voltage level.

12. The smart charging system of claim 10 , further comprising a custom IC configured to be in communication with an external IC of the external device.

13. The smart charging system of claim 12 , wherein the custom IC is further configured to determine a preferred power level based on the communication with the external IC, and to control the DC/DC converter to convert the first voltage level to the second voltage level based on the preferred power level and output the preferred power level to the external device through the USB port.

14. The smart charging system of claim 13 , wherein the custom IC is further configured to adjust the preferred power level in real-time based on the communication with the external IC.

15. The smart charging system of claim 10 , wherein the first voltage level is approximately 24 volts and the second voltage level is approximately 5 volts.

16. A method for wirelessly charging an external device, the method comprising:

receiving power at a first voltage level;

reducing the first voltage level of the received power from the first voltage level to a second voltage level;

distributing the received power to a plurality of universal serial bus (USB) splitter modules that are positioned in a housing, wherein the plurality of USB splitter modules comprise at least one USB port to output power to an external device,

receiving a first set of charging specification from an external IC in the external device when at least one of the plurality of USB splitter modules is connected to the external device through the at least one USB port,

reducing the first voltage level to the second voltage level based on the first set of charging specifications received from the external IC; and

receiving a second set of charging specification from the external IC in the external device for regulating charging in real time.

17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

outputting the power at the first voltage level through a first USB splitter module among the plurality of USB splitter modules; and
