SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR RECALL COMPLIANCE AT A VENDING MACHINE
Systems and methods for implement an item lockout at a vending machine. For example, an item may be locked out due to a recall associated with the item. The systems and methods include detecting a lockout request indicating an item type. The systems and methods also include querying an inventory database to identify items associated with the item type. The inventory database is configured to store item records of items offered by a vending machine and store a status of the items offered by the vending machine. Additionally, the systems and methods include changing a status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out. Changing the status of the items prevents the corresponding items from appearing in a list of available items.
1 . A vending machine comprising:
one or more processors;
one or more transceivers adapted to communicate with a management server over a one or more communication networks;
an inventory database configured to store item records of items offered by the vending machine and store a status of the items offered by the vending machine; and
one or more non-transitory memories coupled to the one or more processors, the inventory database, and the one or more transceivers, the one or more non-transitory memories storing a set of computer executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vending machine to:
detect a lockout request received via the one or more transceivers, the lockout request indicating an item type;
query the inventory database to identify items associated with the item type; and
change a status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out, wherein changing the status of the items prevents the corresponding items from appearing in a list of available items.
2 . The vending machine of claim 1 , wherein the lockout request is indicative of the item type being recalled.
3 . The vending machine of claim 1 , further comprising a temperature sensor.
4 . The vending machine of claim 3 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vending machine to:
transmit, via the one or more transceivers, temperature data generated by the temperature sensor.
5 . The vending machine of claim 4 , wherein the lockout request is indicative of the temperature data indicating that a temperature of the vending machine has been outside of a suitable range of temperatures for the item type.
6 . The vending machine of claim 1 , wherein to prevent the items from appearing in the list of available items, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vending machine to:
detect that a customer is interacting with a user interface of the vending machine to purchase an item;
generate the list of items available at the vending machine, wherein the list of items does not include items corresponding to item records indicating the locked out status; and
present the list of items available at the vending machine via the user interface.
7 . The vending machine of claim 1 , wherein to prevent the items from appearing in the list of available items, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vending machine to:
receive, via the one or more transceivers, a request for a list of available items at the vending machine;
generate the list of items available at the vending machine, wherein the list of items does not include items corresponding to item records indicating the locked out status; and
transmit, via the one or more transceivers, the list of available items to the management server.
8 . The vending machine of claim 1 , wherein to change the status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vending machine to:
change the item record for each item associated with the item type to indicate the locked out status.
9 . The vending machine of claim 1 , wherein to change the status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vending machine to:
change a parameter associated the item type to indicate the locked out status.
10 . A computer-implemented method executed by one or more processors of a vending machine, the method comprising:
detecting, by the one or more processors, a lockout request indicating an item type;
querying, by the one or more processors, an inventory database to identify items associated with the item type, wherein the inventory database is configured to store item records of items offered by the vending machine and store a status of the items offered by the vending machine; and
changing, by the one or more process, a status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out, wherein changing the status of the items prevents the corresponding items from appearing in a list of available items.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the lockout request is indicative of the item type being recalled.
12 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
transmitting, to a management server, temperature data generated by a temperature sensor associated with the vending machine.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the lockout request is indicative of the temperature data indicating that a temperature of the vending machine has been outside of a suitable range of temperatures for the item type.
14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein preventing the items from appearing in the list of available items comprises:
detecting, by the one or more processors, that a customer is interacting with a user interface of the vending machine to purchase an item;
generating, by the one or more processors, the list of items available at the vending machine, wherein the list of items does not include items associated with the locked out status; and
presenting, by the one or more processors, the list of items available at the vending machine via the user interface.
15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein preventing the items from appearing in the list of available items comprises:
receiving, from a management server, a request for a list of available items at the vending machine;
generating, by the one or more processors, the list of items available at the vending machine, wherein the list of items does not include items associated with the locked out status; and
transmitting, to the management server, the list of available items.
16 . The method of claim 10 , wherein changing the status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out comprises:
changing, by the one or more processors, the item record for each item associated with the item type to indicate the locked out status.
17 . The method of claim 10 , wherein changing the status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out comprises:
changing, by the one or more processors, a parameter associated the item type to indicate the locked out status.
18 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
detect a lockout request indicating an item type;
query an inventory database to identify items associated with the item type, wherein the inventory database is configured to store item records of items offered by a vending machine and store a status of the items offered by the vending machine; and
change a status of the items associated with the item type to indicate that the items are locked out, wherein changing the status of the items prevents the corresponding items from appearing in a list of available items.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein to prevent the items from appearing in the list of available items, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
detect that a customer is interacting with a user interface of the vending machine to purchase an item;
generate the list of items available at the vending machine, wherein the list of items does not include items corresponding to item records indicating the locked out status; and
present the list of items available at the vending machine via the user interface.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein to prevent the items from appearing in the list of available items, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the vending machine to:
receive, from a management server, a request for a list of available items at the vending machine;
generate the list of items available at the vending machine, wherein the list of items does not include items corresponding to item records indicating the locked out status; and
transmit, to the management server, the list of available items.
