Abstract

Provided is a scalable delamination of a SSZ-70 framework zeolite, without the need for sonication, which has been previously made difficult by the charged nature of the imidazolium structure-directing agents that are required for zeolite synthesis. The method comprises contacting a B-SSZ-70 zeolite precursor with a zinc source such as zinc nitrate and a fluoride source.

Claims (11)

1. A single step process for delaminating a borosilicate layered zeolite precursor comprising contacting said borosilicate layered zeolite precursor in a solution containing both a zinc salt and a fluoride source comprising an ammonium fluoride, wherein the borosilicate layered zeolite precursor is B-SSZ-70, and the process is conducted without sonication.

2. The process of claim 1 , wherein the ammonium fluoride comprises tetrabutyl ammonium fluoride.

3. The process of claim 1 , wherein the zinc salt comprises zinc nitrate.

4. The process of claim 1 , wherein the delamination is conducted at a temperature in a range of from 100-170° C.

5. The process of claim 4 , wherein the temperature is in a range of from 125-145° C.

6. The process of claim 4 , wherein the temperature is about 135° C.

7. A single step process for delaminating a borosilicate layered zeolite precursor comprising contacting said borosilicate layered zeolite precursor in a solution containing both a zinc salt and a fluoride source comprising an ammonium fluoride, wherein the borosilicate layered zeolite precursor is B-ERB-1, and the process is conducted without sonication.

8. The process of claim 7 , wherein the ammonium fluoride comprises tetrabutyl ammonium fluoride.

9. The process of claim 7 , wherein the zinc salt comprises zinc nitrate.

10. The process of claim 7 , wherein the delamination is conducted at a temperature in a range of from 100-170° C.

11. The process of claim 10 , wherein the temperature is in a range of from 125-145° C.
