Abstract

An inter-gaming operator (IGO) server and method is described. The IGO server receives gaming and non-gaming transactions from gaming operator systems, comprising gaming platforms and merchants associated with each gaming operator system. Each gaming operator system issues its own casino crypto currency (C3) for use in gaming and non-gaming transactions. For each transaction that is processed by the IGO, the IGO debits and credits user accounts in accordance with the particular C3 involved in each transaction. Each transaction is further maintained by generating one or more crypto-blocks, each crypto-block comprising a cryptographically-encoded version of all or a portion of the information in each transaction received by the IGO server. Because the IGO server is coupled to multiple gaming operator systems, the IGO server may be used to detect illicit wagering activities that heretofore could not be detected.

Claims (89)

1. A method, performed by an inter-gaming operator computer server, for managing gaming and non-gaming transactions for a plurality of gaming operator systems, comprising:

creating, by a processor of the inter-gaming operator computer server, a first account associated with a first user in response to a request from the first user, the first account for use with a first digital currency issued by a first gaming operator system;

receiving, by the processor via a network interface coupled to the processor, first transaction information from a first gaming operator system, the first transaction comprising a wager comprising a first amount of the first digital currency;

determining, by the processor, that the first transaction is associated with the first user from the first transaction information;

determining, by the processor, that the first transaction originated from a first gaming platform associated with the first gaming operator system;

reducing, by the processor, a balance of the first account by the first amount when the first transaction originated from a first gaming platform associated with the first gaming operator system; and

encrypting, by the processor, at least some of the transaction information to form a crypto-block accessible by the first person.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the processor via the network interface, second transaction information comprising a second amount of the first digital currency;

determining, by the processor, that the second transaction information comprises information about a non-gaming transaction;

determining, by the processor, that the second transaction originated from a first merchant associated with the first gaming operator system;

determining, by the processor, that the second transaction is associated with the first user;

reducing, by the processor, the first account balance associated with the first user by the second amount when the second transaction information originated from a first merchant associated with the first gaming operator system.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the processor via the network interface, second transaction information comprising a second amount of a second digital currency;

determining, by the processor, that the second transaction information originated from a second gaming operator system;

determining, by the processor, that the second transaction is associated with the first user;

determining, by the processor, that the first transaction information and the second transaction information is each associated with a first wagering event;

determining, by the processor, that the first transaction information comprises an indication of a first wager placed by the first user on a first side of the wagering event;

determining, by the processor, that the second transaction information comprises an indication of a second wager placed by the first user on an opposing side of the wagering event; and

generating, by the processor, an alert when the first transaction information comprises the first wager placed by the first user on the first side of the wagering event, and that the second transaction information comprises the second wager placed by the first user on the opposing side of the wagering event.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein encrypting at least some of the transaction information to form a crypto-block comprises:

assigning, by the processor, a first cryptographic key to the first user in response to the first user creating the first account; and

encrypting, by the processor, at least some of the first transaction information using a second cryptographic key associated with the first cryptographic key.

5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising:

creating, by the processor, a third cryptographic key;

providing, by the processor via the network interface, the third cryptographic key to the first gaming operator system; and

generating, by the processor, a second crypto-block using a fourth cryptographic key associated with the third cryptographic key, the second crypto-block decryptable by the third cryptographical key.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the first transaction information comprises information pertaining to a first wager placed on a first gaming platform associated with the first gaming operator system, and the second transaction information comprises information pertaining to a non-gaming transaction, the method further comprising:

assigning, by the processor, a first cryptographic key to the first user;

encrypting, by the processor, a first portion of the first transaction information using a second cryptographic key associated with the first cryptographic key; and

encrypting, by the processor, the second transaction information using a second cryptographic key associated with the first cryptographic key.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first transaction information comprises information pertaining to a gaming transaction, wherein the crypto-block comprises a user ID and a game ID, and wherein the game ID identifies a particular gaming device of the first gaming platform.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

creating, by the processor, a second account associated with the first user in response to a request from the first user, the second account for use with a second digital currency issued by a second gaming operator system;

receiving, by the processor, a request from the user to transfer an amount of the first digital currency from the first account to a second amount of the second digital currency into the second account;

determining, by the processor, that the first account contains more than the amount requested;

converting, by the processor, the amount of the first digital currency into a second amount of the second digital currency;

debiting, by the processor, the first account by the first amount; and

crediting, by the processor, the second account by the second amount.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

notifying, by the processor via the network interface, the first gaming system operator that the first account was debited by the amount of the first digital currency; and

notifying, by the processor via the network interface, the second gaming system operator that the second account was credited with the second amount of the second digital currency.

10. An inter-gaming operator server for managing gaming and non-gaming transactions for a plurality of gaming operator systems, comprising:

a network interface for sending and receiving digital data over a wide-area network;

a non-transitory memory for storing processor-executable instructions and a plurality of user accounts; and

a processor coupled to the network interface and the non-transitory memory for executing the processor-executable instructions that cause the server to:

create, by the processor, a first account associated with a first user in response to a request from the first user received by the processor over the network interface, the first account for use with a first digital currency issued by a first gaming operator system;

receive, by the processor via the network interface, first transaction information from a first gaming operator system, the first transaction comprising a wager comprising a first amount of the first digital currency;

determine, by the processor, that the first transaction is associated with the first user from the first transaction information;

determine, by the processor, that the first transaction originated from a first gaming platform associated with the first gaming operator system;

reduce, by the processor, a balance of the first account by the first amount when the first transaction originated from a first gaming platform associated with the first gaming operator system; and

encrypt, by the processor, at least some of the transaction information to form a crypto-block accessible by the first person.

11. The server of claim 10 , wherein the processor-executable instructions comprise further instructions that cause the server to:

receive, by the processor via the network interface, second transaction information comprising a second amount of the first digital currency;

determine, by the processor, that the second transaction information comprises information about a non-gaming transaction;

determine, by the processor, that the second transaction originated from a first merchant associated with the first gaming operator system;

determine, by the processor, that the second transaction is associated with the first user;

reduce, by the processor, the first account balance associated with the first user by the second amount when the second transaction information originated from a first merchant associated with the first gaming operator system.

12. The server of claim 10 , wherein the processor-executable instructions comprise further instructions that cause the server to:

receive, by the processor via the network interface, second transaction information comprising a second amount of a second digital currency;

determine, by the processor, that the second transaction information originated from a second gaming operator system;

determine, by the processor, that the second transaction is associated with the first user;

determine, by the processor, that the first transaction information and the second transaction information is each associated with a first wagering event;

determine, by the processor, that the first transaction information comprises an indication of a first wager placed by the first user on a first side of the wagering event;

determine, by the processor, that the second transaction information comprises an indication of a second wager placed by the first user on an opposing side of the wagering event; and

generate, by the processor, an alert when the first transaction information comprises the first wager placed by the first user on the first side of the wagering event, and that the second transaction information comprises the second wager placed by the first user on the opposing side of the wagering event.

13. The server of claim 10 , wherein the processor-executable instructions that cause the server to encrypt at least some of the transaction information to form a crypto-block comprises instructions that causes the server to:

assign, by the processor, a first cryptographic key to the first user in response to the first user creating the first account; and

encrypt, by the processor, at least some of the first transaction information using a second cryptographic key associated with the first cryptographic key.

14. The server of claim 13 , wherein the processor-executable instructions comprise further instructions that cause the server to:

create, by the processor, a third cryptographic key;

provide, by the processor, the third cryptographic key to the first gaming operator system; and

generate, by the processor, a second crypto-block using a fourth cryptographic key associated with the third cryptographic key, the second crypto-block decryptable by the third cryptographical key.

The server of claim 11 , wherein the first transaction information comprises information pertaining to a first wager placed on a first gaming platform associated with the first gaming operator system, and the second transaction information comprises information pertaining to a non-gaming transaction, wherein the processor-executable instructions comprise further instructions that cause the server to:

assign, by the processor, a first cryptographic key to the first user;

encrypt, by the processor, a first portion of the first transaction information using a second cryptographic key associated with the first cryptographic key; and

encrypt, by the processor, the second transaction information using a second cryptographic key associated with the first cryptographic key.

16. The server of claim 10 , wherein the first transaction information comprises information pertaining to a gaming transaction, wherein the crypto-block comprises a user ID and a game ID, and wherein the game ID identifies a particular gaming device of the first gaming platform.

17. The server of claim 10 , wherein the processor-executable instructions comprise further instructions that cause the server to:

create, by the processor, a second account associated with the first user in response to a request from the first user, the second account for use with a second digital currency issued by a second gaming operator system;

receive, by the processor via the network interface, a request from the user to transfer an amount of the first digital currency from the first account to a second amount of the second digital currency into the second account;

determine, by the processor, that the first account contains more than the amount requested;

convert, by the processor, the amount of the first digital currency into a second amount of the second digital currency;

debit, by the processor, the first account by the first amount; and

credit, by the processor, the second account by the second amount.

18. The server of claim 8 , wherein the processor-executable instructions comprise further instructions that cause the server to:

notify, by the processor via the network interface, the first gaming system operator that the first account was debited by the amount of the first digital currency; and

notify, by the processor via the network interface, the second gaming system operator that the second account was credited with the second amount of the second digital currency.
