Abstract

A container closure includes a generally planar body having a product side and a customer side. The container closure body defines a limited container opening and an actuation location. Further, the container body includes a force concentrating construction disposed adjacent the limited container opening.

Claims (54)

1. A container closure comprising:

a generally planar body having a product side and a customer side;

said container closure body defines a limited container opening and an actuation location;

said container body includes a force concentrating construction disposed adjacent said limited container opening;

wherein said force concentrating construction includes a force directing score pattern;

said actuation location is defined by a raised button;

said force directing score pattern includes a plurality of circular trapezoids disposed about said button; and

said plurality of circular trapezoids spaced from each other along adjacent radial sides.

2. The container closure of claim 1 wherein said plurality of circular trapezoids includes one of three circular trapezoids, four circular trapezoids, five circular trapezoids, six circular trapezoids, seven circular trapezoids or eight circular trapezoids.

3. The container closure of claim 1 wherein each circular trapezoid includes au inner score line, said inner score line disposed within the circular trapezoid.

4. A container closure comprising:

a generally planar body having a product side and a customer side;

said container closure body defines a limited container opening and an actuation location; and

said container body includes a force concentrating construction disposed adjacent said limited container opening;

wherein said force concentrating construction includes a number of force focusing scores;

said actuation location is defined by a raised button;

each said force focusing score includes a first arcuate portion, a generally arcuate nose, and a second arcuate portion, said nose disposed between, and contiguous with, said first arcuate portion and said second arcuate portion;

each said nose disposed adjacent the perimeter of said button;

said force concentrating construction includes a number of anti-fracture scores; and

each said anti-fracture score corresponding to one of a portion of an associated force focusing score.

5. The container closure of claim 4 wherein each said nose disposed within one of 0.010 inch, 0.020 inch, 0.025 inch, 0.30 inch or 035 inch of the perimeter of said button.

6. The container closure of claim 4 wherein said number of force focusing scores includes one of a single force focusing score or four force focusing scores.

7. The container closure of claim 4 wherein said number of force focusing scores includes one of a single force focusing score or four force focusing scores.

8. The container closure of claim 4 wherein:

said actuation location is defined by a raised button;

said button includes a force application indicia; and

said force application indicia disposed adjacent a force focusing score nose.

9. A container closure comprising:

a generally planar body having a product side and a customer side;

said container closure body defines a limited container opening and an actuation location; and

said container body includes a force concentrating construction disposed adjacent said limited container opening;

wherein said force concentrating construction includes a number of force focusing scores;

wherein said force concentrating construction includes a force directing score pattern;

said actuation location is defined by a raised button;

said force directing score pattern includes a plurality of circular trapezoids disposed about said button;

said plurality of circular trapezoids includes a first circular trapezoid and a second circular trapezoid; and

said plurality of circular trapezoids spaced from each other along adjacent radial sides.

10. The container closure of claim 9 wherein:

said force focusing score includes a first arcuate portion, a generally arcuate nose, and a second arcuate portion, said nose disposed between, and contiguous with, said first arcuate portion and said second arcuate portion;

wherein said nose is disposed on a link of said force concentrating construction; and

said first arcuate portion is generally disposed within said first circular trapezoid; and

said second arcuate portion is generally disposed within said second circular trapezoid.

11. A container closure comprising:

a generally planar body having a product side and a customer side;

said container closure body defines a limited container opening and an actuation location; and

said container body includes a force concentrating construction disposed adjacent said limited container opening;

wherein said force concentrating construction includes a number of force focusing scores;

wherein said force concentrating construction includes a force directing score pattern;

each said force concentrating construction includes an anti-fracture score; and

each said anti-fracture score corresponding to one of a portion of an associated force focusing score.

12. The container closure of claim 11 wherein:

said actuation location is defined by a raised button;

said button includes a force application indicia; and

said force application indicia disposed adjacent a force focusing score nose.
