Abstract

The present invention relates to systems and methods for cleaning materials, such as flooring and upholstery. In some cases, the systems and methods use an electrolytic cell to electrolyze a solution comprising sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium acetate, sodium percarbonate, potassium carbonate, potassium bicarbonate, and/or any other suitable chemical to generate electrolyzed alkaline water and/or electrolyzed oxidizing water. In some cases, the cell comprises a recirculation loop that recirculates anolyte through an anode compartment of the cell. In some cases, the cell further comprises a sensor and a processor, where the processor is configured to automatically change an operation of the cell, based on a reading from the sensor. In some cases, a fluid flows past a magnet before entering the cell. In some additional cases, fluid from the cell is conditioned by being split into multiple conduits that run in proximity to each other. Additional implementations are described.

Claims (45)

1. A method for conditioning electrolyzed water for cleaning, the method comprising:

obtaining an electrolyzed water solution;

obtaining a first flow stream and a second flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution;

running the first flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution in a first conduit;

running the second flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution in a second conduit, wherein a length of the first conduit is laterally coupled to, and is twisted around a length of, the second conduit; and

after the first flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution and the second flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution have respectively run through the first conduit and the second conduit, applying a portion of the electrolyzed water solution to a material that is to be cleaned.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein, prior to the portion of the electrolyzed water solution that has passed through the at least one of (i) the first conduit and (ii) the second conduit being applied to the material that is to be cleaned, the first flow stream and the second flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution are combined together to form a mixture, and wherein the applying the portion of the electrolyzed water solution to the material that is to be cleaned comprises applying the mixture to the material that is to be cleaned.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising exposing the electrolyzed water solution to a magnetic field in the at least one of (i) the first conduit and (ii) the second conduit.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first conduit and the second conduit are formed within a tube and are separated by a wall that extends from a first inner circumference point of the tube, adjacent to a center of the tube, and to a second inner circumference point of the tube, and wherein the second inner circumference point of the tube is opposite the first inner circumference point of the tube.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein an interior cavity of the first conduit is separated from an interior cavity of the second conduit by a single wall.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein an interior cavity of the first conduit and an interior cavity of the second conduit are separated from each other along a length of the first conduit and a length of the second conduit by less than about 0.33 cm.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

running the first flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution in the first conduit in a first direction; and

running the second flow stream of the electrolyzed water solution in the second conduit and in a section direction, which is different than the first direction.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the electrolyzed water solution comprises an electrolyzed alkaline water solution.

9. A method for conditioning electrolyzed water for cleaning, the method comprising:

obtaining an electrolyzed alkaline water solution;

splitting the electrolyzed alkaline water solution into a first flow stream and a second flow stream;

running the first flow stream of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution through a first conduit;

running the second flow stream of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution through a second conduit, wherein an interior cavity of the first conduit and an interior cavity of the second conduit are separated from each other along a length of the first conduit and a length of the second conduit by less than about 0.33 cm, wherein the length of the first conduit and the length of the second conduit are each over 1 m, and wherein the length of the first conduit is laterally coupled to, and is twisted around, the length of the second conduit;

combining together the first flow stream and the second flow stream to form a mixture after the first flow stream and the second flow stream have respectively passed through the first conduit and the second conduit; and

applying a portion of the mixture to a material that is to be cleaned.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising using at least one magnet to apply a magnetic field to at least one of the first conduit containing a portion of the first flow stream of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution and the second conduit containing a portion of the second flow stream of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution.

11. The method of claim 9 , comprising:

running the first flow stream of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution in the first conduit in a first direction; and

running the second flow stream of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution in the second conduit and in the first direction.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising directing the mixture past at least one magnet.

13. A method for conditioning electrolyzed water for cleaning, the method comprising:

obtaining an electrolyzed alkaline water solution;

running a first portion of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution in a first flow stream through a first conduit;

running a second portion of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution in a second flow stream through a second conduit, wherein a length of the first conduit is laterally coupled at multiple locations to, and is twisted around a length of, the second conduit;

combining the first flow stream with the second flow stream to form a mixture after the first and second flow streams have respectively passed through the first and second conduits;

applying a portion of the mixture to a material that is to be cleaned; and

removing the mixture and debris from the material that is to be cleaned.

14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising exposing at least one of: (i) the first portion of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution and (ii) the second portion of the electrolyzed alkaline water solution to a magnetic field.

15. The method of claim 13 , further comprising:
