Abstract

Systems and methods for implementing mobile payments. In an aspect of in-store purchase, a merchant sends a payment amount and merchant account info to transaction center. A buyer sends a code and buyer account info to transaction center. The code represents the merchant. In an aspect of online purchase, an e-commerce merchant provides options for a buyer to use names other than a first name plus a surname. In one embodiment, a buyer submits a shortened name or nickname for online purchases when a given payment service is used as a payment method.

Claims (32)

1. A method performed by a merchant for facilitating online shopping or online purchasing via a computing apparatus, a software, and a communication network, comprising:

1) sending data to a user's electronic device for an online purchase through the communication network, wherein the electronic device presents a plurality of content items in an interface using the data;

2) the plurality of content items including a plurality of input areas as options configured in the interface for the user to enter a name of the user including a first name and a surname or enter a shortened name of the user for the purchase;

3) receiving the name or the shortened name through the communication network after the user enters one of them via the interface; and

4) sending the name or the shortened name, a purchase amount, and other information to a payment service facility corresponding to a selection made by the user for payment.

2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the shortened name includes a shortened first name plus a surname or a first name plus a shortened surname.

3. The method according to claim 1 wherein the shortened name includes an initial of a middle name.

4. The method according to claim 1 wherein the plurality of content items further include an option for the user to enter a nickname via the interface.

5. The method according to claim 1 wherein the shortened name is applicable when the selection is made by the user for payment.

6. The method according to claim 1 wherein the plurality of content items further include an option for the user to select whether to share predetermined information with the payment service facility.

7. The method according to claim 1 , further including running a module of the software after the user makes the selection facility for payment, wherein the module is configured to store information of the user provided by the payment service facility.

8. A method performed by a merchant for facilitating online shopping or online purchasing via a computing apparatus, a software, and a communication network, comprising:

1) sending data to a user's electronic device for an online purchase via the communication network, wherein the electronic device generates an interface using the data;

2) the interface providing a plurality of options for the user to enter a name of the user including a first name and a surname or enter a shortened name of the user for the purchase;

3) receiving the name or the shortened name via the communication network after the user submits the name or the shortened name through the interface; and

4) sending the name or the shortened name and information related to the purchase to a payment service facility corresponding to a selection made by the user for payment.

9. The method according to claim 8 wherein the shortened name includes a shortened first name plus a surname or a first name plus a shortened surname.

10. The method according to claim 8 wherein the shortened name includes an initial of a middle name.

11. The method according to claim 8 wherein the interface further provides an option for the user to enter a nickname via the interface.

12. The method according to claim 8 wherein the shortened name is applicable when the user makes the selection for payment.

13. The method according to claim 8 wherein the interface further provides an option for the user to select whether to share predetermined information with the payment service facility.

14. The method according to claim 8 , further including running a module of the software after the user makes the selection for payment, wherein the module is configured to store information of the user provided by the payment service facility.

15. A method performed by a merchant for facilitating online shopping or online purchasing via a computing apparatus, a software, and a communication network, comprising:

1) sending data to a user's electronic device for an online purchase via the communication network, wherein the electronic device generates an interface using the data;

2) the interface providing an option for the user to submit a shortened name of the user for the purchase;

3) receiving the shortened name via the communication network after the user provides the shortened name; and

4) sending the shortened name and information related to the purchase to a payment service facility corresponding to a selection made by the user for payment.

16. The method according to claim 15 wherein the shortened name includes a shortened first name plus a surname or a first name plus a shortened surname.

17. The method according to claim 15 wherein the shortened name includes an initial of a middle name.

18. The method according to claim 15 , further including providing an option for the user to use a nickname or replace the shortened name by a nickname.

19. The method according to claim 15 , further including providing an option for the user to select whether to share predetermined information with the predetermined payment service facility.

20. The method according to claim 15 , further including running a module of the software after the user makes the selection for payment, wherein the module is configured to store information of the user provided by the payment service facility.
