Abstract

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion having a first cavity portion, a second cavity portion, and a plurality of weight ports in a bottom portion. The first cavity portion and second cavity portion may be at least partially filled with a polymer material. The polymer material may be coupled to the face portion. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

Claims (40)

1. A golf club head comprising:

a body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion, a rear portion, and a front portion;

a first weight port region on the bottom portion, the first weight port region having a first plurality of weight ports formed in the bottom portion, each weight port of the first plurality of weight ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion;

a second weight port region on the bottom portion, the second weight port region having a second plurality of weight ports formed in the bottom portion, each weight port of the second plurality of weight ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion;

a first cavity portion defined by an internal volume of the body portion, the first cavity portion being at least 50% filled with a first elastic polymer portion; and

a second cavity portion defined by a recess in the bottom portion and a bottom cover attached to the bottom portion, the second cavity portion being at least 50% filled with a second elastic polymer portion,

wherein a minimum distance between the front portion and the second cavity portion is less than a minimum distance between the rear portion and the second cavity portion.

2. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first plurality of weight ports extend into the first cavity portion and at least one of the first plurality of weight ports contacts the first elastic polymer portion.

3. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the second plurality of weight ports extend into the first cavity portion and at least one of the second plurality of weight ports contacts the first elastic polymer portion.

4. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first weight port region is at or proximate to the toe portion.

5. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the second weight port region is at or proximate to the heel portion.

6. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein at least one weight port of the first plurality of weight ports is fluidly connected to the first cavity portion.

7. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein at least one weight port of the second plurality of weight ports is fluidly connected to the first cavity portion.

8. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first elastic polymer portion is coupled to an interior wall of the front portion.

9. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the golf club head has a volume greater than or equal to 300 cubic centimeters.

10. A golf club head comprising:

a body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion, a rear portion, and a front portion;

a first weight port region on the bottom portion, the first weight port region having a first plurality of weight ports formed in the bottom portion, each weight port of the first plurality of weight ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion, the first plurality of weight ports including at least three adjacent weight ports being substantially similarly spaced apart;

a second weight port region on the bottom portion, the second weight port region having a second plurality of weight ports formed in the bottom portion, each weight port of the second plurality of weight ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion, the second plurality of weight ports including at least three adjacent weight ports being substantially similarly spaced apart;

a first cavity portion defined by an internal volume of the body portion, the first cavity portion being at least 50% filled with a first elastic polymer portion; and

a second cavity portion defined by a recess in the bottom portion and a bottom cover attached to the bottom portion, the second cavity portion being at least 50% filled with a second elastic polymer portion,

wherein a minimum distance between the second cavity portion and the front portion is less than a minimum distance between the second cavity portion and the rear portion.

11. A golf club head as defined in claim 10 , wherein the first weight port region is at or proximate to the toe portion.

12. A golf club head as defined in claim 10 , wherein the second weight port region is at or proximate to the heel portion.

13. A golf club head as defined in claim 10 , wherein at least one weight port of the first plurality of weight ports is fluidly connected to the first cavity portion.

14. A golf club head as defined in claim 10 , wherein at least one weight port of the second plurality of weight ports is fluidly connected to the first cavity portion.

15. A golf club head as defined in claim 10 , wherein the first plurality of weight ports includes at least four adjacent weight ports being substantially similarly spaced apart, and the second plurality of weight ports includes at least four adjacent weight ports being substantially similarly spaced apart.

16. A golf club head as defined in claim 10 , wherein the golf club head is a driver-type golf club head.

17. A golf club head comprising:

a body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion, a rear portion, and a front portion;

a first weight port region on the bottom portion, the first weight port region having a first plurality of weight ports formed in the bottom portion, each weight port of the first plurality of weight ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion;

a second weight port region on the bottom portion, the second weight port region having a second plurality of weight ports formed in the bottom portion, each weight port of the second plurality of weight ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion;

a first plurality of weight portions, each weight port of the first plurality of weight ports configured to receive at least one weight portion of the first plurality of weight portions;

a second plurality of weight portions, each weight port of the second plurality of weight ports configured to receive at least one weight portion of the second plurality of weight portions;

a first cavity portion defined by an internal volume of the body portion, the first cavity portion being at least 50% filled with a first elastic polymer portion; and

a second cavity portion defined by a recess in the bottom portion and a bottom cover attached to the bottom portion, the second cavity portion being at least 50% filled with a second elastic polymer portion,

wherein a minimum distance between the second cavity portion and the front portion is less than a minimum distance between the second cavity portion and the rear portion.

18. A golf club head as defined in claim 17 , wherein the first weight port region is at or proximate to the toe portion, and the second weight port region is at or proximate to the heel portion.
