Abstract

Claims (64)

1 . A makeup removal and cleansing article, comprising:

a. a water-insoluble substrate;

b. impregnated in the water-insoluble substrate a cleansing composition comprising;

i. at least one branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20, each present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition;

ii. at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less, each present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition;

iii. at least one polymeric thickener for a water-based system, wherein:

1. acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, if present in the at least one polymeric thickener, is present from about 0.01% to about 0.05% by weight of the cleansing composition; and

2. carbomer, if present in the at least one polymeric thickener, is present from about 0.01% to about 0.2% by weight of the cleansing composition; and

3. any polymeric thickener species other than the acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer or the carbomer, if present in the at least one polymeric thickener, is present from about 0.01% to about 2% by weight of the cleansing composition;

iv. a total amount of at least one alkylated glycerol ester surfactant present up to about 2% by weight of the cleansing composition, the at least one alkylated glycerol ester surfactant being selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol-7 glyceryl cocoate, polyethylene glycol-7 caprylic/capric glycerides, polyethylene glycol-6 caprylic/capric glycerides, disodium cocoyl glutamate and sodium cocoyl glutamate, coco-betaine, caprylyl/capryl glucoside, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, sodium cocoamphoacetate, polyglyceryl-4 caprate, and combinations thereof; and

v. water present from about 60% to about 85% by weight of the cleansing composition,

wherein the cleansing composition has a viscosity of 400-1,200 cP at room temperature.

2 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 1 , wherein the cleansing composition is impregnated onto the water-insoluble substrate in an amount of 250% to 400% by weight of the cleansing composition to the weight of the substrate.

The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 1 , wherein the article is a cosmetic removal wipe that comprises nonwoven fibers, the fibers formed from natural biodegradable and sustainably sourced fibers selected from (1) natural originated fiber comprising one or a combination of pulp, viscose, lyocell, cellulose acetate, and cotton, (2) natural fiber comprising one or a combination of hemp, flax, seaweed, ramie, banana, and pineapple, and (3) regenerated or recycled fiber comprising cotton, and combinations of these.

4 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 1 , wherein the cleansing composition is essentially free of silicone.

5 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 1 , wherein:

(i) the branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20 is selected from isohexadecane, C15-19 alkane, isododecane, undecane, tridecane or a combination thereof,

(ii) the at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less is selected from isopropyl myristate, dicaprylyl ether, ethylhexyl palmitate, isopropyl palmitate, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, isononyl isononanoate, isopropyl isostearate, diisopropyl sebacate, coco caprylate/caprate, diisopropyl adipate, or a combination thereof, and

the at least one polymeric thickener is selected from carbomer, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, polyacrylate crosspolymer-6, microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose gum, xanthan gum, sodium carboxymethyl starch, sclerotium gum and xanthan gum, xanthan gum and Ceratonia siliqua (carob) gum, dehydroxanthan gum, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, sclerotium gum, xanthan gum and sclerotium gum and lecithin and pullulan, or a combination thereof.

6 . A makeup removal and cleansing article, comprising:

a. a water-insoluble substrate comprising a cosmetic wipe;

b. impregnated in the water-insoluble substrate a cleansing composition comprising;

i. at least one branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20, each present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition, the at least one branched or linear liquid alkane comprising isohexadecane;

ii. at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less, each present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition, the at least one polar emollient comprising isopropyl myristate;

iii. polymeric thickener for a water-based system comprising acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer and carbomer present as a combination in a total amount from about 0.13% to about 0.2% by weight of the cleansing composition;

iv. a total amount of at least one alkylated glycerol ester surfactant present up to about 2% by weight of the cleansing composition, the at least one alkylated glycerol ester surfactant comprising polyethylene glycol-7 glyceryl cocoate; and

v. water present from about 60% to about 85% by weight of the cleansing composition,

wherein the cleansing composition is impregnated onto the water-insoluble substrate in an amount of 250% to 400% by weight of the cleansing composition to the weight of the substrate, and

wherein the cleansing composition has a viscosity of 400-1,200 cP at room temperature.

7 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 6 , wherein the at least one polymeric thickener for a water-based system consists of acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer and carbomer.

8 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 6 , wherein the cleansing composition is impregnated onto the water-insoluble substrate at a weight percent ratio of 1:4 substrate to cleansing composition.

9 . A makeup removal and cleansing article, comprising:

a. a water-insoluble substrate;

b. impregnated in the water-insoluble substrate a cleansing composition comprising:

i. at least one branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20;

ii. at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less;

iii. at least one polymeric thickener for a water-based system, wherein:

1. acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, if present in the at least one polymeric thickener, is present from about 0.01% to about 0.2% by weight of the cleansing composition;

2. carbomer, if present in the at least one polymeric thickener, is present from about 0.01% to about 0.2% by weight of the cleansing composition; and

3. any polymeric thickener species other than the acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer or the carbomer, if present in the at least one polymeric thickener, is present from about 0.01% to about 2% by weight of the cleansing composition;

iv. at least one alkylated glycerol ester surfactant, the at least one alkylated glycerol ester surfactant being selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol-7 glyceryl cocoate, polyethylene glycol-7 caprylic/capric glycerides, polyethylene glycol-6 caprylic/capric glycerides, disodium cocoyl glutamate and sodium cocoyl glutamate, coco-betaine, caprylyl/capryl glucoside, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, sodium cocoamphoacetate, polyglyceryl-4 caprate, and combinations thereof; and

v. water present from about 70% to about 85% by weight of the cleansing composition,

wherein a total amount of the alkylated glycerol ester surfactant present is up to about 2% by weight of the cleansing composition, and

wherein the cleansing composition has a viscosity of 400-1,200 cP at room temperature.

10 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , wherein:

i. each of the at least one branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20, is present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition;

ii. each of the at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less is present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition; and

iii. the total amount of polymeric thickener for water-based system is present from about 0.01% to about 0.2% by weight of the cleansing composition.

11 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , wherein:

i. the at least one branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20, comprises isohexadecane;

ii. the at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less comprises isopropyl myristate;

iii. the at least one polymeric thickener for water-based system comprises a combination of the carbomer and the acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer; and

iv. the at least one alkylated glycerol ester surfactant comprising comprises polyethylene glycol-7 glyceryl cocoate.

12 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , wherein the branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20 is selected from isohexadecane, C15-19 alkane, isododecane, undecane, tridecane or a combination thereof.

13 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 12 , wherein the branched or linear, liquid alkane is present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition.

The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , wherein the at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less is selected from isopropyl myristate, dicaprylyl ether, ethylhexyl palmitate, isopropyl palmitate, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, isononyl isononanoate, isopropyl isostearate, diisopropyl sebacate, coco caprylate/caprate, diisopropyl adipate, or a combination thereof.

15 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 14 , wherein the at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less is present from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the cleansing composition.

16 . The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , wherein:

i. the at least one branched or linear, liquid alkane with carbon chain length of C11 to C20 is selected from isohexadecane, C15-19 alkane, isododecane, undecane, tridecane or a combination thereof;

ii. the at least one polar emollient with molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less is selected from isopropyl myristate, dicaprylyl ether, ethylhexyl palmitate, isopropyl palmitate, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, isononyl isononanoate, isopropyl isostearate, diisopropyl sebacate, coco caprylate/caprate, diisopropyl adipate, or a combination thereof; and

iii. the total amount of polymeric thickener for water-based system is selected from microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose gum, xanthan gum, sodium carboxymethyl starch, sclerotium gum and xanthan gum, xanthan gum and Ceratonia siliqua (carob) gum, dehydroxanthan gum, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, sclerotium gum and xanthan gum, Sclerotium gum, xanthan gum and sclerotium gum and lecithin and pullulan, or a combination thereof.

The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , wherein the at least one polymeric thickener consists of a combination of carbomer and acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer and wherein the total amount of polymeric thickener present from about 0.13% to about 0.2% by weight of the cleansing composition.

The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , wherein the at least one polymeric thickener comprises carbomer present from about 0.01% to about 0.2% by weight of the cleansing composition and a polymeric thickener selected from the group consisting of polyacrylate crosspolymer-6, microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose gum, xanthan gum, sodium carboxymethyl starch, sclerotium gum and xanthan gum, and combinations thereof.

The makeup removal and cleansing article according to claim 9 , further comprising at least one additive, the additive including at least one humectant, at least one preservative, or combinations thereof, the at least one humectant, if present, including glycerin, and the at least one preservative, if present, including hydroxyacetophenone, caprylyl glycol, or combinations thereof, and wherein the cleansing composition is essentially free of silicone.
