Abstract

A method of generating and processing a broadcast signal, includes generating broadcast data for broadcast services; generating first signaling information providing information for discovery and acquisition of a broadcast service; generating second signaling information including service entries for the broadcast services, wherein one of the service entries includes a first service identifier for identifying the broadcast service and bootstrap information for discovering a transport session carrying the first signaling information for the broadcast service; generating physical layer signaling information; and transmitting the broadcast signal including the broadcast data, the first signaling information, the second signaling information, and the physical layer signaling information.

Claims (71)

1. A method of generating and processing a broadcast signal, the method comprising:

generating broadcast data for broadcast services;

generating first signaling information providing information for discovery and acquisition of a broadcast service;

generating second signaling information including service entries for the broadcast services,

wherein one of the service entries includes a first service identifier for identifying the broadcast service and bootstrap information for discovering a transport session carrying the first signaling information for the broadcast service;

generating physical layer signaling information including first physical layer signaling information having a fixed size and second physical layer signaling information having a variable size,

wherein the first physical layer signaling information includes information for indicating a Forward Error Correction (FEC) type for protection of the second physical layer signaling information and information for indicating a size of the second physical layer signaling information, and

wherein the second physical layer signaling information includes information required to decode the broadcast data and information related to the second signaling information; and

transmitting the broadcast signal including the broadcast data, the first signaling information, the second signaling information, and the physical layer signaling information,

wherein the first signaling information includes User Service Description (USD) information having a second service identifier for identifying the broadcast service, name information of the broadcast service, and language information of the broadcast service, and

wherein the second service identifier has a same value as the first service identifier.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second service identifier is a reference to the corresponding service entry in the second signaling information.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first signaling information further includes Media Presentation Description (MPD) information and Transport Session Instance Description (TSID) information.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the USD information further includes basepattern information, and

wherein the basepattern information includes a character pattern to match and identify a resource identifier in the MPD information.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the TSID information includes a Transport Session Identifier (TSI) for identifying a Layered Coding Transport (LCT) channel carrying a component of the broadcast service.

6. An apparatus for receiving a broadcast signal, the apparatus comprising:

a tuner configured to receive the broadcast signal including broadcast data for broadcast services, first signaling information, second signaling information, and physical layer signaling information,

wherein the first signaling information provides information for discovery and acquisition of a broadcast service,

wherein the second signaling information includes service entries for the broadcast services,

wherein one of the service entries includes a first service identifier for identifying the broadcast service and bootstrap information for discovering a transport session carrying the first signaling information for the broadcast service,

wherein the first signaling information includes User Service Description (USD) information having a second service identifier for identifying the broadcast service, name information of the broadcast service, and language information of the broadcast service,

wherein the second service identifier has a same value as the first service identifier wherein the physical layer signaling information includes first physical layer signaling information having a fixed size and second physical layer signaling information having a variable size,

wherein the first physical layer signaling information includes information for indicating a Forward Error Correction (FEC) type for protection of the second physical layer signaling information and information for indicating a size of the second physical layer signaling information, and

wherein the second physical layer signaling information includes information required to decode the broadcast data and information related to the second signaling information; and

a hardware processor configured to:

decode the physical layer signaling information,

decode the second signaling information,

decode the first signaling information, and

decode the broadcast data.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the second service identifier is a reference to the corresponding service entry in the second signaling information.

8. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the first signaling information further includes Media Presentation Description (MPD) information and Transport Session Instance Description (TSID) information.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the USD information further includes basepattern information and

wherein the basepattern information includes a character pattern for match and identify a resource identifier in the MPD information.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the TSID information includes a Transport Session Identifier (TSI) for identifying a Layered Coding Transport (LCT) channel carrying a component of the broadcast service.

11. An apparatus for generating and processing a broadcast signal, the apparatus comprising:

a hardware processor configured to:

generate broadcast data for broadcast services,

generate first signaling information providing information for discovery and acquisition of a broadcast service,

generate second signaling information including service entries for the broadcast services,

wherein one of the service entries includes a first service identifier for identifying the broadcast service and bootstrap information for discovering a transport session carrying the first signaling information for the broadcast service, and

generate physical layer signaling information including first physical layer signaling information having a fixed size and second physical layer signaling information having a variable size,

wherein the first physical layer signaling information includes information for indicating a Forward Error Correction (FEC) type for protection of the second physical layer signaling information and information for indicating a size of the second physical layer signaling information, and

wherein the second physical layer signaling information includes information required to decode the broadcast data and information related to the second signaling information; and

a transmitter configured to transmit the broadcast signal including the broadcast data, the first signaling information, the second signaling information, and the physical layer signaling information,

wherein the first signaling information includes User Service Description (USD) information having a second service identifier for identifying the broadcast service, name information of the broadcast service, and language information of the broadcast service, and

wherein the second service identifier has a same value as the first service identifier.

12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the second service identifier is a reference to the corresponding service entry in the second signaling information.

13. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the first signaling information further includes Media Presentation Description (MPD) information and Transport Session Instance Description (TSID) information.

14. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the USD information further includes basepattern information and

wherein the basepattern information includes a character pattern to match and identify a resource identifier in the MPD information.

15. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the TSID information includes a Transport Session Identifier (TSI) for identifying a Layered Coding Transport (LCT) channel carrying a component of the broadcast service.

16. A method of receiving a broadcast signal, the method comprising:

receiving the broadcast signal including broadcast data for broadcast services, first signaling information, second signaling information, and physical layer signaling information,

wherein the first signaling information provides information for discovery and acquisition of a broadcast service,

wherein the second signaling information includes service entries for the broadcast services,

wherein one of the service entries includes a first service identifier for identifying the broadcast service and bootstrap information for discovering a transport session carrying the first signaling information for the broadcast service,

wherein the first signaling information includes User Service Description (USD) information having a second service identifier for identifying the broadcast service, name information of the broadcast service, and language information of the broadcast service,

wherein the second service identifier has a same value as the first service identifier,

wherein the physical layer signaling information includes first physical layer signaling information having a fixed size and second physical layer signaling information having a variable size,

wherein the first physical layer signaling information includes information for indicating a Forward Error Correction (FEC) type for protection of the second physical layer signaling information and information for indicating a size of the second physical layer signaling information, and

wherein the second physical layer signaling information includes information required to decode the broadcast data and information related to the second signaling information;

decoding the physical layer signaling information;

decoding the second signaling information;

decoding the first signaling information; and

decoding the broadcast data included.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the second service identifier is a reference to the corresponding service entry in the second signaling information.

18. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first signaling information further includes Media Presentation Description (MPD) information and Transport Session Instance Description (TSID) information.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the USD information further includes basepattern information, and

wherein the basepattern information includes a character pattern for use to match and identify a resource identifier in the MPD information.

20. The method according to claim 18 , wherein the TSID information includes a Transport Session Identifier (TSI) for identifying a Layered Coding Transport (LCT) channel carrying a component of the broadcast service.
