Abstract

A system and method are provided for presenting self-diagnostic test instructions in the form of audiovisual messages. The system and method include collecting by a user of a testing device a biologic sample for use with a testing device, assigning correlative values as test results, and receiving the test results at a server disposed on a network. Some aspects of the system and method present test instructions to the user in the form of audiovisual messages. The audiovisual messages are provided to the user as a response to an interaction with a retail diagnostic product. In some aspects, the complete audiovisual message is presented before the user may complete a self-diagnostic test.

Claims (45)

1. A method of interfacing retail diagnostic products, each having medical testing devices associated therewith, with a remote server via a mobile device, the method comprising:

launching a mobile device application on the mobile device associated with imaging of a select one of the medical testing devices associated with a select one of the retail diagnostic products, the select one of the medical testing devices associated with a specific diagnostic test, each medical testing device having a unique product code for the associated specific diagnostic test;

activating a camera on the mobile device having a display;

displaying a first alignment graphic on the display;

aligning the unique product code of a select one of the medical testing devices with the first alignment graphic;

in response to alignment of the unique product code with the first alignment graphic on the display, capturing an image of the unique product code;

processing the image of the captured unique product code against a database of instructions for using the medical testing devices associated with the retail diagnostic products;

selecting instructions associated with the unique product code, which instructions are associated with the associated specific diagnostic test for the select one of the medical testing devices;

displaying a second alignment graphic on the display;

aligning an alignment graphic and an alignment target provided on the select one of the medical testing devices with the second alignment graphic; and

in response to alignment of the alignment graphic and the alignment target with the second alignment graphic on the display, capturing an image of the select one of the medical testing devices.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising presenting the instructions on the display of the mobile device.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the instructions include one or more audiovisual messages.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the one or more audiovisual messages are received for a determined amount of time.

5. The method of claim 2 , further comprising presenting on the display of the mobile device a menu which provides an option to acknowledge the instructions.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting the image of the select one of the medical testing devices to the remote server; and

receiving a test result from the remote server.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising presenting the test result on the display of the mobile device.

8. The method of claim 6 , further comprising providing a risk indicator alerting a user to seek medical attention immediately.

9. The method of claim 6 , further comprising transmitting the test result to a healthcare provider.

10. The method of claim 6 , wherein the test result includes a normalized result weighted against other test results.

11. A system for interfacing retail diagnostic products, each having medical testing devices associated therewith, the system comprising:

a mobile device including a display and a mobile device application associated with imaging of a select one of the medical testing devices associated with a select one of the retail diagnostic products, the select one of the medical testing devices associated with a specific diagnostic test, each medical testing device having a unique product code for the associated specific diagnostic test,

wherein the mobile device application is configured to:

activate a camera on the mobile device;

display a first alignment graphic on the display;

detect an alignment of the unique product code of a select one of the medical testing devices with the first alignment graphic;

in response to alignment of the unique product code with the first alignment graphic on the display, capture an image of the unique product code;

process the image of the captured unique product code against a database of instructions for using the medical testing devices associated with the retail diagnostic products;

select instructions associated with the unique product code, which instructions are associated with the associated specific diagnostic test for the select one of the medical testing devices;

display a second alignment graphic on the display;

detect an alignment of an alignment graphic and an alignment target provided on the select one of the medical testing devices with the second alignment graphic; and

in response to alignment of the alignment graphic and the alignment target with the second alignment graphic on the display, capture an image of the select one of the medical testing devices.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the mobile device application is further configured to present the instructions on the display of the mobile device.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions include one or more audiovisual messages.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the one or more audiovisual messages are received for a determined amount of time.

15. The system of claim 12 , wherein the mobile device application is further configured to present on the display of the mobile device a menu which provides an option to acknowledge the instructions.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the mobile device application is further configured to:

transmit the image of the select one of the medical testing devices to a remote server; and

receive a test result from the remote server.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the mobile device application is further configured to present the test result on the display of the mobile device.

18. The system of claim 16 , wherein the mobile device application is further configured to provide a risk indicator alerting a user to seek medical attention immediately.

19. The system of claim 16 , wherein the mobile device application is further configured to transmit the test result to a healthcare provider.

20. The system of claim 16 , wherein the test result includes a normalized result weighted against other test results.
