Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to selectable and interchangeable covers, frames, and lids for a plurality of different telecommunications module frames. The selectable covers can vary, for example, with respect to size, shape, and number arrangement, and configuration of ports to provide for different selectable combinations of module assemblies.

Claims (19)

1. A telecommunications enclosure system comprising:

at least one of a plurality of selectable frames, each of the frames having a different configuration and defining an interior volume; and

a cover for selectively closing an opening in at least one of the selectable frames, the cover being selectable from at least a first cover having a first number of ports, the first number being zero or more, and a second cover having a second number of ports, the second number being zero or more and different from the first number, each of the ports being adapted to receive a connectorizing element for at least one optical fiber,

wherein the at least one of a plurality of selectable frames has a closable top, the top being closable with a lid, the lid including at least one port for accessing the interior volume.

2. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein for each frame each of the ports provides access to the interior volume and is adapted to receive at least one of a plurality of configurations of fiber optic connector.

3. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein a side of one of the frames includes an input port adapted to receive a non-connectorized portion of a cable.

4. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the selectable covers includes an input port adapted to receive a non-connectorized portion of a cable.

5. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the selectable covers comprises a plug adapted to removably plug a port of the selectable cover.

6. The telecommunications enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the at least one port of the lid is adapted to receive a connectorizing element for at least one optical fiber.

7. The telecommunications enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the at least one port of the lid is adapted to receive a non-connectorized portion of a cable.

8. The telecommunications enclosure of claim 1 , wherein the lid comprises a plug adapted to removably plug the at least one port of the lid.

The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein with respect to optical fibers within the interior volume of at least one of the frames, one or more optical elements are disposed within the interior volume that provide for one or more of: optical fiber indexing, optical fiber connectorizing, splitting, and/or splicing capabilities.

10. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the ports is adapted to receive a ruggedized single- or multi-fiber connector.

11. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the selectable frames includes multiple sides with an opening coverable with one or more of the selectable covers.

12. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein at least one side of one or more of the selectable frames includes multiple openings each of which is coverable with one or more of the selectable covers.

13. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein each of the selectable covers is adapted to engage around a perimeter of at least one opening in one or more of the selectable frames.

The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein the opening in the at least one of the selectable frames is in a first side of the frame, wherein a second side of the frame is adapted to mount the frame to a structure, and wherein the first side and the second side are oblique to each other.

15. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the selectable frames includes a recessed platform leading to an entry port for a non-connectorized portion of a cable.

16. The telecommunications enclosure system of claim 15 , wherein the at least one of the selectable frames that includes a recessed platform also includes a curved side.
