Abstract

The present invention provides certain polymeric materials, precursors thereof as well as the preparation and uses thereof.

Claims (9)

1. A monomer for synthesizing optical polymers, said monomer comprising the following structure:

wherein A is a vinylic group, L is a functional linker, and B is a tertbutyloxycarbonyl (BOC) or nitrobenzyl ether.

2. The monomer of claim 1 , wherein the vinylic group, A, is a divinylic, multivinylic, or polyunsaturated group.

3. The monomer of claim 1 , wherein said monomer comprises the following structure:

4. The monomer of claim 2 , wherein the vinylic group A is a styrenic, an acrylate, a methacrylate, an acrylamide, a methacrylamide, or a divinylbenzene.

5. The monomer of claim 1 , wherein the functional linker, L, is a sulfide moiety, a selenium (Se) moiety, a tin (Sn) moiety, a titanium (Ti) moiety, a tellurium (Te) moiety, an aromatic or heteroaromatic-moiety, an aliphatic moiety, or an unsaturated moiety.

6. The monomer of claim 1 , wherein: the vinylic group A is a styrenic, an acrylate, a methacrylate, an acrylamide, a methacrylamide, or a divinylbenzene; and

the functional linker, L, is a sulfide moiety, a selenium (Se) moiety, a tin (Sn) moiety, a titanium (Ti) moiety, a tellurium (Te) moiety, an aromatic or heteroaromatic moiety, an aliphatic moiety, or an unsaturated moiety.

7. The monomer of claim 1 , wherein the vinylic group A is a styrenic, an acrylate, a methacrylate, an acrylamide, a methacrylamide, or a divinylbenzene.
