Method and apparatus for enhanced automated wireless orienteering
Methods and apparatus for Orienteering using a wireless communication between transceivers. A smart device is operative to generate a vector based upon the wireless communications. A query may be made based upon the vector. A response to the query may include a direction of travel, a virtual image based upon location and location and direction, and annotative and pictorial information.
1. A method of orienteering with a smart device, the method comprising the steps of:
a) supporting a first transceiver and a second transceiver via an agent at a first geospatial position;
b) generating respective logical communications between the first transceiver and each of a first set of three reference point transceivers;
c) with a controller, determining X, Y and Z coordinates of the first transceiver based upon the respective logical communications between the first transceiver and each of a first set of three reference point transceivers;
d) generating respective logical communications between the second transceiver and each of a second set of three reference point transceivers;
e) with a controller, determining X, Y and Z coordinates of the second transceiver based upon the respective logical communications between the first transceiver and each of a first set of three reference point transceivers;
f) generating a vector based upon the X, Y and Z coordinates of the first transceiver and X, Y and Z coordinates of the second transceiver;
g) generating a direction of interest based upon the vector;
h) generating a location of the agent based upon at least one of: X, Y and Z coordinates of the first transceiver, and the X, Y and Z coordinates of the second transceiver;
i) generating a user interface comprising a human readable representation of the agent location and the direction of interest;
j) calculating a distance from one of: the X, Y and Z coordinates of the first transceiver, and the X, Y and Z coordinates of the second transceiver, and along a linear path base upon the direction of interest, or the length of the vector;
k) selecting a virtual model of a structure based upon the vector;
l) accessing a first virtual position within the virtual model based upon data comprising the vector; and
m) providing data from the virtual model to a user interface on a smart device, the data from the virtual model based upon a position and direction of the vector.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein one of the first transceiver and the second transceiver comprises a smart watch.
3. The method of claim 1 wherein one of the first transceiver and the second transceiver comprises a smart ring.
4. The method of claim 1 wherein at least one of the first transceiver and the second transceiver comprises a smart pointer.
5. The method of claim 4 wherein the smart pointer comprises both the first transceiver and the second transceiver.
6. The method of claim 1 wherein at least one of the first set of three reference point transceivers comprises a multi-modality transceiver capable of transceiving in multiple frequency bandwidths.
7. The method of claim 6 wherein the multiple frequency bandwidths comprise bandwidths associated with two or more of: WiFi, Bluetooth, Ultrawideband, infrared and ultrasonic modalities.
8. The method of claim 1 wherein the direction of interest is at an angle to an orientation in space of the vector.
