Abstract

The present invention is directed to formulations including a polymer and a plasticizer composition. The plasticizer composition is a blend of an alkyl ketal ester plasticizer and a second plasticizer selected from a cycloaliphatic compound, an ortho phthalate compound, a terephthalate compound, a benzoate ester compound, and a bio-based compound. The plasticizer composition is at least 10% by weight of the total of the polymer and the plasticizer composition.

Claims (25)

1. A plastisol formulation comprising, based on the total weight of the plastisol formulation:

i) between about 30-90% by weight of a polyvinyl chloride polymer;

ii) between about 5-30% by weight of the a first compound having the Structure (Ia):

and

iii) between about 5-30% by weight of the a second compound having the Structure

(II) that is selected from the group consisting of:

and combinations thereof,

wherein a plasticizer composition comprises a blend of the first compound and the second compound.

2. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 10% by weight of the first compound.

3. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 20% by weight of the first compound.

6. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 50% by weight of the first compound.

7. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 60% by weight of the first compound.

8. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 70% by weight of the first compound.

9. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 80% by weight of the first compound.

10. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 10% by weight of the second compound.

11. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 20% by weight of the second compound.

12. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 30% by weight of the second compound.

13. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 40% by weight of the second compound.

14. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 50% by weight of the second compound.

15. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 60% by weight of the second compound.

16. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 70% by weight of the second compound.

17. The plastisol formulation of claim 1 , wherein the plasticizer composition comprises at least 80% by weight of the second compound.
