LID FOR A FLAT BACK BUCKET
A lid for a bucket comprises a front lid portion and a rear lid portion, where the front lid portion may be hingedly connected to the rear lid portion in some embodiments, and the front lid portion and rear lid portion may comprise one center portion in other embodiments. In hinged embodiments, the hinge may be offset from a center of the lid. In some embodiments, the lid includes a plurality of cut outs or openings configured to receive plural bail mounts on the bucket. In some embodiments, the front lid portion has a semi-circular configuration and the rear lid portion has a substantially flat back configured to match a flat back of a bucket. In some embodiments, the lid includes at least one flex zone capable of being flexed to facilitate placing the lid onto the bucket and over at least one bail mount on the bucket.
1 . A lid for a bucket having a rim channel and plural bail mounts in the rim channel, the lid comprising:
a rear lid portion with a top surface and a bottom surface;
a front lid portion hingedly connected to the rear lid portion so that the front lid portion can be pivoted between open and closed positions, the front lid portion having a top surface and a bottom surface, peripheral margins of the bottom surfaces of the rear and front lid portions being configured to engage the rim channel of the bucket; and
plural cut outs in the peripheral margins of at least one of the rear and front lid portions configured to receive, respectively, the plural bail mounts;
wherein the hinged connection between the front and rear lid portions is offset from a center of the lid.
2 . A lid as in claim 1 , wherein at least one of the rear lid portion and the front lid portion includes a downwardly recessed portion.
3 . A lid as in claim 2 , wherein the recessed portion is configured to receive the bottom of another bucket in a stacked relationship.
4 . A lid as in claim 2 , wherein the recessed portion is configured to engage an inner surface of the rim channel of the bucket.
5 . A lid as in claim 2 , wherein the bucket has a semi-circular configuration with a flat back, and wherein the front lid portion has a semi-circular configuration and the rear lid portion has a flat back configured to match the flat back of the bucket.
6 . A lid as in claim 5 further comprising at least one locking tab configured to secure the lid to the rim channel of the bucket.
7 . A lid for a semi-circular bucket having a flat back and a rim channel, the lid comprising:
a semi-circular configuration with a flat back to match the bucket configuration;
a rear lid portion with a top surface, a bottom surface, and a flat back that is configured to match the flat back of the bucket; and
a front lid portion hingedly connected to the rear lid portion so that the front lid portion can be pivoted between open and closed positions, the front lid portion having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a semi-circular configuration, peripheral margins of the bottom surfaces of the rear and front lid portions being configured to engage the rim channel of the bucket;
wherein the hinged connection between the front and rear lid portions is offset from a center of the lid.
8 . A lid as in claim 7 further comprising at least one lip extending from the lid and positioned to be exterior of and overhang the rim channel of the bucket.
9 . A lid as in claim 8 further comprising at least one locking tab configured to secure the lid to the rim channel of the bucket.
10 . A lid as in claim 8 , wherein at least one of the rear lid portion and the front lid portion includes a downwardly recessed portion.
11 . A lid as in claim 10 , wherein the recessed portion is configured to engage an inner surface of the rim channel of the bucket.
12 . A lid for a semi-circular bucket having a flat back, a rim channel, and plural bail mounts in the rim channel, the lid comprising:
a center lid portion with a top surface and a bottom surface, peripheral margins of the bottom surface configured to engage the top of the bucket rim channel, the center lid portion having a semi-circular configuration with a flat back to match the bucket configuration;
a lip extending from the center lid portion and positioned to be exterior of and overhang the bucket rim channel;
plural cut outs in the peripheral margin of the center lid portion configured to receive the plural bail mounts; and
at least one flex zone, wherein the flex zone is capable of being flexed to facilitate placing the lid onto the bucket and over at least one of the plural bail mounts.
13 . A lid as in claim 12 , wherein at least one of the plural cut outs is adjacent to a flex zone.
14 . A lid as in claim 13 further comprising at least one locking tab configured to secure the lid to the rim channel of the bucket.
15 . A lid as in claim 13 , wherein the center lid includes a downwardly recessed portion.
16 . A lid as in claim 15 , wherein the recessed portion is configured to engage an inner surface of the rim channel of the bucket.
17 . A lid as in claim 16 , wherein the lid is made of a food grade material.
18 . A lid as in claim 12 , wherein the plural cut outs are adjacent to flex zones.
19 . A lid as in claim 18 , wherein the plural cut outs are positioned on an axis that is parallel to the flat back of the center lid portion.
20 . A lid as in claim 19 , wherein the center lid portion includes a downwardly recessed portion configured to engage an inner surface of the rim channel of the bucket.
