receiving game play information pertaining to one or more computer-implemented online games, at a server, from devices coupled to the server, wherein each device is associated with at least one of a group of users;

generating a recommendation of a potential connection from the group of users for a selected user in a social network based at least in part on:

user profile information maintained for the selected user;

the game play information associated with the group of users; and

respective game-play states of a set of players comprising one of:

a plurality of players in a gameplay graph of the selected user, the gameplay graph being an in-game social graph for an associated game; or

a plurality of players in a social graph of the selected user, the social graph being an out-of-game network or users;

providing the recommendation to the selected user for accepting, at a device in communication with the server, wherein the recommendation includes a portion of the game play information associated with the potential connection; and

responsive to receiving acceptance by the selected user of the recommendation with respect to a candidate user indicated by the potential connection, establishing a connection between the selected user and the accepted user within the social network.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user profile information includes social graph information retrieved from a second social network.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

receiving a first gameplay graph from a gaming network;

wherein the recommendation of the potential connection for the selected user is based on the game play information associated with a plurality of users present in both the first social graph and the first gameplay graph.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation of the potential connection is based on game play information that includes past cooperation or competition with the selected user.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user profile information includes a contact list provided by the selected user that is separate from the social network.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising: combining a first social graph with a first gameplay graph to generate the social network.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the connection is limited to a specific game.

maintaining separate social networks for a plurality of games offered in a game networking system.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation identifies recommended game play participants that match a preference provided by the selected user.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the preference provided by the selected user includes an age range of the game play participants.

11. A non-transitory machine readable medium comprising computer-readable instructions, the instructions operable with a computer to perform operations comprising:

receiving game play information pertaining to one or more computer-implemented online games, at a server, from devices coupled to the server, wherein each device is associated with at least one of a group of users;

generating a recommendation of a potential connection from the group of users for a selected user in a social network based at least in part on:

user profile information maintained for the selected user;

the game play information associated with the group of users; and

respective game-play states of a set of players comprising one of:

a plurality of players in a gameplay graph of the selected user, the gameplay graph being an in-game social graph for an associated game; or

a plurality of players in a social graph of the selected user, the social graph being an out-of-game network or users;

providing the recommendation to the selected user for accepting, at a device in communication with the server, wherein the recommendation includes a portion of the game play information associated with the potential connection; and

responsive to receiving acceptance by the selected user of the recommendation with respect to a candidate user indicated by the potential connection, establishing a connection between the selected user and the accepted user within the social network.

12. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11 , comprising computer-readable instructions to:

receive connection data from a contact list outside of a social network or a gaming network.

13. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11 , comprising computer-readable instructions to:

generate the potential connection recommendation based at least in part on a game play frequency.

14. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11 , comprising computer-readable instructions to:

maintain separate social networks for a plurality of games offered in a game networking system.

15. A computing system, comprising:

a storage module configured to store game play data pertaining to one or more computer-implemented online games, at a server, from devices coupled to the server, wherein each device is associated with at least one of a group of users;

a connection recommendation module configured to:

generate a recommendation of a potential connection from the group of users for a selected user in a social network based at least in part on:

user profile information maintained for the selected user;

the game play information associated with the group of users; and

respective game-play states of a plurality of players in a gameplay graph of the selected user, the gameplay graph being an in-game social graph for an associated game;

provide a recommendation to the selected user for acceptance of a recommended connection indicated by the recommendation, wherein the recommendation includes a portion of the game play data associated with the recommended connection; and

responsive to receiving acceptance by the selected user of the recommended connection, establishing a connection between the selected user and the recommended connection within the gaming social network.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the game play data includes reputation data.
