Ultrasonic surgical instruments
A surgical instrument is disclosed including a surgical device including a transducer positioned to provide vibrations along a longitudinal axis at a predetermined frequency and an end effector positioned distally from the transducer. The surgical instrument further includes a sleeve configured to receive the surgical device and a rail positioned along an interior portion of the sleeve. The surgical device includes a feature for receiving the rail. The surgical device is slidable along the rail.
1. A surgical instrument, comprising:
a surgical device, comprising:
a transducer positioned to provide vibrations along a longitudinal axis at a predetermined frequency;
an end effector positioned distally from the transducer;
an arm slidable relative to the end effector; and
a clamp pad positioned on the arm;
a first sleeve configured to receive the surgical device; and
a second sleeve connected to the first sleeve, wherein the second sleeve is configured to receive an endoscope.
2. The surgical instrument of claim 1 , wherein the clamp pad is positioned distally with respect to the end effector along the longitudinal axis.
3. A surgical system, comprising:
a first sleeve;
a surgical instrument disposed within the first sleeve, wherein the surgical instrument comprises:
a transducer;
an end effector configured to be energized by the transducer; and
a member moveable from an extended position to a retracted position to move tissue into contact with the end effector; and
a second sleeve coupled to the first sleeve, wherein the second sleeve is configured to receive an endoscope.
4. The surgical system of claim 3 , wherein the member comprises a clamp arm.
5. The surgical system of claim 4 , wherein the end effector defines an axis, and wherein the clamp arm comprises:
a first arm portion extending along the axis; and
a second arm portion extending transversely from the first arm portion, wherein the axis extends through the second arm portion.
6. The surgical system of claim 5 , wherein the second arm portion comprises a clamp pad.
7. A surgical system, comprising:
a first sleeve;
a surgical instrument extending through the first sleeve, wherein the surgical instrument comprises:
a transducer;
an end effector configured to be energized by the transducer, wherein the end effector defines an axis;
a clamp arm, wherein the end effector and the clamp arm are transitionable from an open configuration to a closed configuration to capture tissue therebetween, wherein the clamp arm comprises:
a first arm portion extending alongside the end effector; and
a second arm portion extending in front of the end effector; and
a second sleeve coupled to the first sleeve, wherein the second sleeve is configured to receive an endoscope.
8. The surgical system of claim 7 , wherein the end effector is movable relative to the clamp arm to transition the end effector and the clamp arm from the open configuration to the closed configuration.
9. The surgical system of claim 7 , wherein the clamp arm is movable relative to the end effector to transition the end effector and the clamp arm from the open configuration to the closed configuration.
10. The surgical system of claim 7 , wherein the second arm portion comprises a clamp pad.
