Abstract

A communication apparatus includes: an acquisition unit that acquires, from another apparatus, information regarding a state of communication through a resource pool allocated to wireless links between at least part of a plurality of relay communication apparatuses, which are movable, and a remote communication apparatus; and a control unit that individually controls allocation of the resource pool to each of the wireless links between each of the plurality of relay communication apparatuses and the remote communication apparatus associated with the relay communication apparatus on the basis of the acquired information.

Claims (36)

1. A first wireless communication device configured to operate as a relay between a base station and other wireless communication devices, the first wireless communication device comprising:

circuitry configured to:

perform a control process based on a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) of a downlink signal received from the base station; and

based on a result of the control process, perform one of a first discovery process or a second discovery process with a second wireless communication device, the first discovery process including:

receiving, from the base station, information identifying a first resource pool to be used by the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device to perform mutual discovery,

wherein the first resource pool is a subset of a second resource pool assigned to the first wireless communication device by the base station for performing discovery with one or more second wireless communication devices, the one or more second wireless communication devices including the second wireless communication device;

transmitting, to the second wireless communication device via the first resource pool, a discovery signal for the mutual detection between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device,

wherein a bandwidth of the second wireless communication device is narrower than a bandwidth of the first wireless communication device; and

receiving a reply to the discovery signal from the second wireless communication device via the first resource pool.

2. The first wireless communication device according to claim 1 , wherein the control process comprises:

comparing the RSRP to a threshold; and

based on the RSRP being equal or greater than the threshold, performing the first discovery process with the second wireless communication device, or

based on the RSRP being less than the threshold, performing the second discovery process with the second wireless communication device.

3. The first wireless communication device according to claim 2 , wherein the threshold is provided to the first wireless communication device by the base station.

4. The first wireless communication device according to claim 2 , wherein the first discovery process further comprises:

requesting that the base station perform a discovery coordination process between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device, the discovery coordination process including the identifying of the first resource pool to be used by the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device to perform mutual discovery.

5. The first wireless communication device according to claim 2 , wherein the second discovery process comprises:

informing the base station that it is not necessary for the base station to coordinate discovery with the one or more second wireless communication devices;

performing discovery with all of the one or more second wireless communication devices by transmitting discovery signals to all subsets of the second resource pool assigned to the first wireless communication device by the base station.

6. The first wireless communication device according to claim 1 , wherein the bandwidth of the second wireless communication device corresponds to 6 resource blocks, and

wherein the bandwidth of the first wireless communication device corresponds to a multiple number of 6 resource blocks subsets, each of the resource blocks subsets corresponding to a respective one of the one or more second wireless communication devices.

7. The first wireless communication device according to claim 1 , wherein the transmitting the discovery signal comprises repeatedly transmitting the discovery signal within a predetermined time.

8. A method for operating a first wireless communication device as a relay between a base station and other wireless communication devices, the method comprising:

performing a control process based on a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) of a downlink signal received from the base station; and

based on a result of the control process, performing one of a first discovery process or a second discovery process with a second wireless communication device, the first discovery process including:

receiving, from the base station, information identifying a first resource pool to be used by the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device to perform mutual discovery,

wherein the first resource pool is a subset of a second resource pool assigned to the first wireless communication device by the base station for performing discovery with one or more second wireless communication devices, the one or more second wireless communication devices including the second wireless communication device;

transmitting, to the second wireless communication device via the first resource pool, a discovery signal for the mutual detection between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device,

wherein a bandwidth of the second wireless communication device is narrower than a bandwidth of the first wireless communication device; and

receiving a reply to the discovery signal from the second wireless communication device via the first resource pool.

9. A base station configured to enable a first wireless communication device to operate as a relay between the base station and other wireless communication devices, the base station comprising:

circuitry configured to:

perform a control process based on a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) of a downlink signal transmitted from the base station and measured by the first wireless communication device; and

based on a result of the control process, enable the first wireless communication device to perform one of a first discovery process or a second discovery process with a second wireless communication device, the first discovery process including transmitting, from the base station to the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device, information identifying a first resource pool to be used by the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device to perform mutual discovery,

wherein the first resource pool is a subset of a second resource pool assigned to the first wireless communication device by the base station for performing discovery with one or more second wireless communication devices, the one or more second wireless communication devices including the second wireless communication device, and

wherein a bandwidth of the second wireless communication device is narrower than a bandwidth of the first wireless communication device.
