Abstract

A system, method and apparatus that uses a quantum event-based, binary data generation apparatus operating in combination with a single-party or two-party, symmetric and/or asymmetric key storage system to create both random numbers and encryption keys to be used for purposes of encryption and decryption of a user's or organization's file data.

Claims (19)

1. An apparatus for generating quantum event-based data, said apparatus comprising:

a light source, said light source emitting light;

a microfluidic device containing microspheres suspended in a fluid, said light passing through said microfluidic device; and

an image sensor, said image sensor configured to detect time-definite changes in the positions of the microspheres that occur as a result of Brownian motion, said microfluidic device is positioned between said light source and said image sensor,

wherein Brownian motion of said microspheres, captured by said image sensor, is feed into a random number generator, generating a plurality of random numbers.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said plurality of random numbers are employed to create a private symmetric key for encrypting a file.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said plurality of random numbers are employed to create a cryptographic key for use in an asymmetric key algorithm.

4. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said plurality of random numbers are employed to encrypt file data, creating an encryption key therefor used to encrypt and decrypt said file data.

5. The apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein said encrypted file data is stored in at least one remote storage location.

6. The apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein said encrypted file data on said at least one remote storage location is retrieved, said encrypted file data decrypted using said encryption key.

7. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said light source is configured to cast shadows of microspheres contained in the microfluidic device onto said image sensor.

8. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein coordinate positions of said microspheres on said image sensor are translated into quantum event-based data.

9. The apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein said coordinate positions of said microspheres on said image sensor are translated into quantum event-based binary data.

10. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said microfluidic device comprises a container of a transparent solid material containing said microspheres suspended in a fluid.

11. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said microspheres are made of polystyrene.

12. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said fluid is a transparent material.

13. The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein said transparent material is selected from the group consisting of glass, plastic and combinations thereof.

14. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said light source is selected from the group consisting of a white light-emitting diode (LED) and a white organic light-emitting diode (OLED).

15. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said image sensor is selected from the group consisting of a frame transfer charge-coupled device (CCD) and a frame transfer complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) device.
