wherein the connector portion includes a connector constructed and configured to mate to at least one power consuming device and/or at least one charging device, wherein the connector is positioned outside the battery cover.

2. The battery of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the at least one battery element, the battery cover, and the battery back plate has a curvature or a contour constructed and configured to conform to a curvature or a contour of a load-bearing platform, wherein the load-bearing platform is a vest, a backpack, or body armor.

3. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery has a length having a range from 8 inches to 12 inches, a width having a range from 7 inches to 10 inches, and a thickness having a range from 0.5 inches to 2 inches.

4. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery has an output voltage from about 5 volts DC to about 90 volts DC at from about 0.25 amps to about 10 amps.

5. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery cover and the battery back plate are comprised of plastic.

6. The battery of claim 1 , further comprising a water barrier material applied to a mating surface of the battery back plate and the rim of the battery cover.

7. The battery of claim 6 , wherein the water barrier material is silicone.

8. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the flexible spring is comprised of steel.

9. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the flexible spring is between 0.25 inches to 1.5 inches long.

10. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the one or more flexible omnidirectional leads include two or more flexible omnidirectional leads, wherein at least one of the two or more flexible omnidirectional leads is operable to charge the battery using the at least one charging device and at least one different flexible omnidirectional lead of the two or more flexible omnidirectional leads is operable to simultaneously power the at least one power consuming device.

11. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery includes at least one layer of a material resistant to heat, wherein the material resistant to heat comprises a copper shielded or copper impregnated polymer.

12. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery includes a material resistant to bullets and/or shrapnel, wherein the material resistant to bullets and/or shrapnel is comprised of an aramid or an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber.

13. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the connector has an ingress protection (IP) rating of IPX7 or IPX8.

14. A battery comprising:

at least one battery element, wherein the at least one battery element houses a plurality of electrochemical cells;

a battery cover including an interior surface, an exterior surface, one or more channels to accommodate wires of one or more flexible omnidirectional leads, a rectangular compartment sized to receive the at least one battery element, and a rim around an entire perimeter of the battery cover, wherein the rim is parallel to a face of the rectangular compartment; and

a battery back plate attached to the rim of the battery cover;

wherein the one or more flexible omnidirectional leads include a connector portion and a wiring portion, wherein a flexible spring is provided around the wiring portion, wherein the wiring portion and the flexible spring are held securely in the one or more channels in the battery cover, wherein the one or more channels extend from the interior surface of the battery cover to the exterior surface of the battery cover, wherein the wiring portion and the flexible spring pass through the one or more channels, wherein a portion of the flexible spring extends past the interior surface of the battery cover and a portion of the flexible spring extends past the exterior surface of the battery cover;

wherein the connector portion includes a connector constructed and configured to mate to at least one power consuming device and/or at least one charging device, wherein the connector is positioned outside the battery cover; and

wherein the battery is rechargeable.

15. The battery of claim 14 , wherein the one or more flexible omnidirectional leads are operable to charge the battery using the at least one charging device and supply power to the at least one power consuming device.

16. The battery of claim 14 , wherein the one or more flexible omnidirectional leads are operable to simultaneously charge the battery and supply power to the power consuming device.

17. The battery of claim 14 , wherein the battery includes at least one layer of a material resistant to heat, wherein the material resistant to heat comprises a copper shielded or copper impregnated polymer.

18. A battery comprising:

at least one battery element, wherein the at least one battery element houses a plurality of electrochemical cells and at least one step down voltage converter;
