Abstract

Anti-lymphoma plant virus particles are described. The anti-lymphoma plant virus particles include a filamentous or rod-shaped plant virus particle linked to an antimitotic agent. A therapeutically effective amount of an anti-lymphoma plant virus particle can be administered to a subject to provide a method of treating lymphoma.

Claims (17)

1. An anti-lymphoma virus particle, comprising a rod-shaped plant virus particle linked to an antimitotic agent, wherein the plant virus particle is a member of the Virgaviridae family.

2. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 1 , wherein the plant virus particle is a tobacco mosaic virus.

3. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 1 , wherein the exterior surface of the plant virus particle has been PEGylated.

4. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 1 , wherein the antimitotic agent is a dolastatin.

5. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 4 , wherein the dolastatin is monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE).

6. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 4 , wherein the dolastatin is valine-citrulline monomethyl auristatin E (vcMMAE).

7. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 1 , wherein the antimitotic agent is covalently conjugated to the exterior of the plant virus particle.

8. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 1 , wherein a targeting ligand is attached to the exterior of the plant virus particle.

9. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 1 , wherein the plant virus particle is linked to an antimitotic agent with a linker that is cleavable during or upon internalization into a cell.

10. The anti-lymphoma virus particle of claim 9 , wherein the antimitotic agent is non-active when linked to the plant virus particle and toxic when released in the cell.

A method of treating lymphoma in a subject in need thereof; comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of an anti-lymphoma virus particle, the anti-lymphoma virus particle comprising a rod-shaped plant virus particle linked to an antimitotic agent with a linker that is cleavable during or upon internalization into a lymphoma cell, wherein the plant virus particle is a member of the Virgaviridae family.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the antimitotic agent is non-active when linked to the plant virus particle and toxic when released in the cell.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the plant virus particle is a tobacco mosaic virus.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the lymphoma is non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the antimitotic agent is a dolastatin.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the dolastatin is valine-citrulline monomethyl-auristatin-E (vcMMAE).

17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the antimitotic agent is linked to the exterior of the plant virus particle.
