Abstract

In one aspect, a method of treating a disorder associated with chronic inflammation includes administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. In some aspects, the disorder is a cancer, an autoimmune disorder, hypertension, or autism. In other aspects, isomyosmine is administered to treat viral infections or disorders associated with elevated levels of hydrogen peroxide and/or other Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS).

Claims (20)

1. A method of treating a viral infection comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition containing a therapeutically effective amount of isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the viral infection is human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the viral infection is human papillomavirus (HPV).

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the viral infection is herpes simplex virus (HSV).

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount is from about 0.01 to about 50 mg/kg/day.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount is from about 0.1 to about 25 mg/kg/day.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount is from about 1 to about 10 mg/kg/day.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is isomyosmine hydrochloride.

9. A method of treating influenza comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition containing a therapeutically effective amount of isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount is from about 0.01 to about 50 mg/kg/day.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount is from about 0.1 to about 25 mg/kg/day.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount is from about 1 to about 10 mg/kg/day.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is isomyosmine hydrochloride.

14. A method of inhibiting reactive oxygen species (ROS) in an individual suffering from a viral infection comprising administering to the individual a pharmaceutical composition containing a therapeutically effective amount of isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the viral infection is influenza.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the viral infection is human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

17. The method of claim 14 , wherein the viral infection is herpes simplex virus (HSV).

18. The method of claim 14 , wherein the viral infection is human papillomavirus (HPV).

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the viral infection is HPV-16.

20. The method of claim 18 , wherein the viral infection is HPV-18 or HPV-31.
