Abstract

Systems and methods for alerting administrators of a monitored digital user experience include performing inline monitoring of network access between one or more users each with an associated user device executing an agent application, the Internet, and one or more cloud applications and private applications. The systems and methods also include obtaining device, application, and network metrics related to the inline monitoring from a cloud system and a logging and analytics system. The systems and methods further include comparing the metrics to one or more alerts comprising alert rules. The systems and methods yet further include sending a notification to one or more administrators when the metrics include data that satisfies the alert rules of the one or more alerts.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the alert rules are compared to based on a time interval, and wherein each of the one or more alerts triggered during the time interval is grouped and sent within a single notification in order to reduce noise.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the interval is synchronized with performing of inline monitoring such that the interval for comparing the device, application, and network metrics to the alert rules is the same as an interval for performing the inline monitoring.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the alert rules include filters such that the notification is at least one of: only sent once for repeating alerts; only sent after an event occurs a predetermined number of times in a row; and is only sent when a predetermined number or percentage of devices is impacted.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the alert system is further configured to display, upon selection of an alert in a graphical user interface, locations impacted including a number of users impacted, the alert rules, and users impacted.

6. An alert system alerting administrators of a monitored digital User Experience (UX) comprising:

a processor communicatively coupled to a cloud system and a logging and analytics system, wherein the cloud system comprises a plurality of nodes communicatively coupled to i) one or more users each with an associated user device executing an agent application, ii) the Internet, and iii) one or more cloud applications and private applications, wherein the cloud system provides inline monitoring of network access between the one or more users, the Internet, and the one or more cloud applications and private applications, and wherein the logging and analytics system communicatively coupled to the cloud system; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to

receive inputs to generate one or more alerts, and to test the one or more alerts against historic data,

obtain device, application, and network metrics from the inline monitoring of the cloud system and the logging and analytics system for quantifying the digital UX associated with the one or more cloud applications and private applications,

compare each of the device, application, and network metrics to the one or more alerts comprising any combination of established alert rules, and

send a notification to one or more administrators when the device, application, and network metrics include data that satisfies the alert rules of the one or more alerts.

7. The alert system of claim 6 , wherein the alert rules are compared to based on a time interval, and wherein each of the one or more alerts triggered during the time interval is grouped and sent within a single notification in order to reduce noise.

8. The alert system of claim 7 , wherein the interval is synchronized with performing of inline monitoring such that the interval for comparing the device, application, and network metrics to the alert rules is the same as an interval for performing the inline monitoring.

9. The alert system of claim 6 , wherein the alert rules include filters such that the notification is at least one of: only sent once for repeating alerts; only sent after an event occurs a predetermined number of times in a row; and is only sent when a predetermined number or percentage of devices is impacted.

10. The alert system of claim 6 , wherein the alert system is further configured to display, upon selection of an alert in a graphical user interface, locations impacted including a number of users impacted, the alert rules, and users impacted.

11. A method comprising:

performing inline monitoring of network access between one or more users each with an associated user device executing an agent application, the Internet, and one or more cloud applications and private applications;

receive inputs to generate one or more alerts, and to test the one or more alerts against historic data;

obtaining device, application, and network metrics from the inline monitoring of the cloud system and the logging and analytics system for quantifying a digital User Experience (UX) associated with the one or more cloud applications and private applications; p 1 comparing each of the device, application, and network metrics to the one or more alerts comprising any combination of established alert rules; and

sending a notification to one or more administrators when the device, application, and network metrics include data that satisfies the alert rules of the one or more alerts.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the comparing the device, application, and network metrics to the one or more alerts comprising alert rules is performed based on a time interval, and wherein the sending a notification to one or more administrators includes grouping each of the one or more alerts triggered during the time interval within a single notification in order to reduce noise.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the interval is synchronized with performing of inline monitoring such that the interval for comparing the device, application, and network metrics to the alert rules is the same as an interval for performing the inline monitoring.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the alert rules include filters such that the notification is at least one of: only sent once for repeating alerts; only sent after an event occurs a predetermined number of times in a row; and is only sent when a predetermined number or percentage of devices is impacted.
