Abstract

In an image-recording device, a cartridge has a first chamber, an outlet, and a first air communication portion for air-communication between the first chamber and the atmosphere. A mount body includes a tank, and first and second sensors. The tank has an inlet, a second chamber, and a second air communication portion for air-communication between the second chamber and the atmosphere. Liquid in the first chamber flows into the second chamber. The first sensor outputs a first signal when a level of the liquid in the second chamber is higher than a first position, and outputs a second signal when the level is lower than the first position. The second sensor outputs a third signal when the level is higher than a second position which is higher than both the first position and the inlet, and outputs a fourth signal when the level is lower than the second position.

2. An image-recording device comprising:

a cartridge having a first chamber configured to accommodate liquid, an outlet, and a first air communication portion used for air-communication between the first chamber and the atmosphere; and

a mount body to which the cartridge is detachably mounted, the mount body including a tank which is configured to be in connection with the cartridge when the cartridge is mounted to the mount body, a first sensor, and a second sensor, the tank having an inlet, a second chamber configured to accommodate liquid, and a second air communication portion used for air-communication between the second chamber and the atmosphere, the liquid in the first chamber being capable of flowing into the second chamber via the outlet of the cartridge and the inlet of the tank,

wherein the first sensor is configured to output a first signal when a level of the liquid accommodated in the second chamber is higher than a first position whereas the first sensor is configured to output a second signal when the level of the liquid accommodated in the second chamber is lower than the first position,

wherein the second sensor is configured to output a third signal when a level of the liquid accommodated in the second chamber is higher than a second position which is higher than both the first position and the inlet of the tank whereas the second sensor is configured to output a fourth signal when the level of the liquid accommodated in the second chamber is lower than the second position, and

wherein the first position is higher than or equal to the outlet of the cartridge in a vertical direction.

3. The image-recording device according to claim 2 , wherein the mount body further includes a notification device and a controller configured to receive signals from the first sensor and the second sensor, and

wherein the controller is configured to perform:

controlling the notification device to notify that liquid cannot be supplied from the first chamber to the second chamber after the controller receives the second signal from the first sensor; and

making a determination on a quantity of the liquid accommodated in the first chamber based on a signal from the second sensor.

4. The image-recording device according to claim 3 , wherein the controller is configured to further perform controlling the notification device to notify that the quantity of liquid accommodated in the first chamber becomes low after the controller receives the first signal from the first sensor and the fourth signal from the second sensor.

5. The image-recording device according to claim 3 , wherein the mount body further includes a communication interface,

wherein the controller is configured to further perform transmitting order information for ordering a new cartridge via the communication interface to an external device.

6. The image-recording device according to claim 3 , wherein the mount body further includes a head in liquid communication with the second chamber, the head being configured to eject liquid supplied from the second chamber, and

wherein the controller is configured to further perform, in a case where the controller detects change in signals from the second sensor from the third signal to the fourth signal during replacement of the cartridge currently mounted in the mount body with another cartridge, controlling the notification device to notify that liquid is flowed from the second chamber to the first chamber.

7. The image-recording device according to claim 3 , wherein the mount body further includes:

a head in liquid communication with the second chamber, the head being configured to eject liquid supplied from the second chamber; and

a memory storing a total liquid quantity, a first volume, and a second volume, the total liquid quantity indicating a sum of a first quantity of liquid accommodated in the first chamber and a second quantity of liquid accommodated in the second chamber, the first volume being a sum of a volume of the first chamber below the first position and a volume of the second chamber below the first position, the second volume being a sum of a volume of the first chamber below the second position and a volume of the second chamber below the second position,

wherein the controller is configured to further perform:

updating a count value in accordance with ejection of liquid from the head; and

updating the total liquid quantity based on the count value,

wherein the total liquid quantity is updated to indicate the first volume when the controller detects change in signals from the first sensor from the first signal to the second signal, and

wherein the total liquid quantity is updated to indicate the second volume when the controller detects change in signals from the second sensor from the third signal to the fourth signal.

8. The image-recording device according to claim 7 , wherein the controller is configured to further perform:

determining whether the first sensor malfunctions; and

updating the total liquid quantity to a value lower than or equal to the first volume on a condition that the controller determines that the first sensor malfunctions.

9. The image-recording device according to claim 7 , wherein the controller is configured to further perform:

determining whether the second sensor malfunctions; and

updating the total liquid quantity to a value lower than or equal to the second volume on a condition that the controller determines that the second sensor malfunctions.
