Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. One method may include receiving radio resource control signaling configured with a first set of demodulation reference signal parameters for transmission of an uplink data channel of a type, receiving downlink control information of a format to activate the transmission of the uplink data channel, identifying a second set of demodulation reference signal parameters for transmission of the uplink data channel of the type based on the received downlink control information, and activating the transmission of the uplink data channel using the first and second set of demodulation reference signal parameters.

Claims (65)

1. A method for wireless communications, comprising:

identifying one or more phase tracking reference signal ports for transmission of a phase tracking reference signal in an uplink data channel;

determining that the uplink data channel is of a first type; and

determining an association between the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports and one or more demodulation reference signal ports based at least in part on a quantity of the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports identified for transmission of the phase tracking reference signal in the uplink data channel of the first type.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the association is a default association for the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the uplink data channel of the first type is a configured Type 1 physical uplink shared channel.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports is one, and wherein the one phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports is two, the method further comprising:

determining that a first phase tracking reference signal port of the two phase tracking reference signal ports is mapped to a first subset of demodulation reference signal ports, wherein the first phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port in the first subset of demodulation reference signal ports.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

determining that a second phase tracking reference signal port of the two phase tracking reference signal ports is mapped to a second subset of demodulation reference signal ports, wherein the second phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port in the second subset of demodulation reference signal ports.

7. The method of claim 6 , further comprising:

receiving radio resource control signaling, wherein the first phase tracking reference signal port is mapped to the first subset of demodulation reference signal ports and the second phase tracking reference signal port is mapped to the second subset of demodulation reference signal ports based at least in part on the radio resource control signaling.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting a phase tracking reference signal based at least in part on the association between the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports and the one or more demodulation reference signal ports.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving radio resource control signaling; and

identifying the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports based at least in part on the radio resource control signaling.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying a set of resources for the phase tracking reference signal based at least in part on associating the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports with the one or more demodulation reference signal ports.

11. An apparatus for wireless communications, comprising:

a processor,

memory coupled with the processor; and

instructions stored in the memory and executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:

identify one or more phase tracking reference signal ports for transmission of a phase tracking reference signal in an uplink data channel;

determine that the uplink data channel is of a first type; and

determine an association between the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports and one or more demodulation reference signal ports based at least in part on a quantity of the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports identified for transmission of the phase tracking reference signal in the uplink data channel of the first type.

12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the association is a default association for the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports.

13. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the uplink data channel of the first type is a configured Type 1 physical uplink shared channel.

14. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports is one, and wherein the one phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port.

15. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports is two, and wherein the instructions are further executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:

determine that a first phase tracking reference signal port of the two phase tracking reference signal ports is mapped to a first subset of demodulation reference signal ports, wherein the first phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port in the first subset of demodulation reference signal ports.

16. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:

determine that a second phase tracking reference signal port of the two phase tracking reference signal ports is mapped to a second subset of demodulation reference signal ports, wherein the second phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port in the second subset of demodulation reference signal ports.

17. The apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:

receive radio resource control signaling, wherein the first phase tracking reference signal port is mapped to the first subset of demodulation reference signal ports and the second phase tracking reference signal port is mapped to the second subset of demodulation reference signal ports based at least in part on the radio resource control signaling.

18. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:

transmit a phase tracking reference signal based at least in part on the association between the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports and the one or more demodulation reference signal ports.

19. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:

receive radio resource control signaling; and

identify the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports based at least in part on the radio resource control signaling.

20. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:

identify a set of resources for the phase tracking reference signal based at least in part on associating the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports with the one or more demodulation reference signal ports.

21. An apparatus for wireless communications, comprising:

means for identifying one or more phase tracking reference signal ports for transmission of a phase tracking reference signal in an uplink data channel;

means for determining that the uplink data channel is of a first type; and

means for determining an association between the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports and one or more demodulation reference signal ports based at least in part on a quantity of the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports identified for transmission of the phase tracking reference signal in the uplink data channel of the first type.

22. The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the association is a default association for the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports.

23. The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the uplink data channel of the first type is a configured Type 1 physical uplink shared channel.

24. The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports is one, and wherein the one phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port.

25. The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the quantity of phase tracking reference signal ports is two, the apparatus further comprising:

means for determining that a first phase tracking reference signal port of the two phase tracking reference signal ports is mapped to a first subset of demodulation reference signal ports, wherein the first phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port in the first subset of demodulation reference signal ports.

26. The apparatus of claim 25 , further comprising:

means for determining that a second phase tracking reference signal port of the two phase tracking reference signal ports is mapped to a second subset of demodulation reference signal ports, wherein the second phase tracking reference signal port is associated with a first demodulation reference signal port in the second subset of demodulation reference signal ports.

27. The apparatus of claim 26 , further comprising:

means for receiving radio resource control signaling, wherein the first phase tracking reference signal port is mapped to the first subset of demodulation reference signal ports and the second phase tracking reference signal port is mapped to the second subset of demodulation reference signal ports based at least in part on the radio resource control signaling.

28. The apparatus of claim 21 , further comprising:

means for transmitting a phase tracking reference signal based at least in part on the association between the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports and the one or more demodulation reference signal ports.

29. The apparatus of claim 21 , further comprising:

means for receiving radio resource control signaling; and

means for identifying the quantity of phase tracking reference signal based at least in part on the radio resource control signaling.

30. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing code for wireless communications, the code comprising instructions executable by a processor to:

identify one or more phase tracking reference signal ports for transmission of a phase tracking reference signal in an uplink data channel;

determine that the uplink data channel is of a first type; and

determine an association between the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports and one or more demodulation reference signal ports based at least in part on a quantity of the one or more phase tracking reference signal ports identified for transmission of the phase tracking reference signal in the uplink data channel of the first type.
