Abstract

The present application relates to magnesium biotinate compositions and methods of use. The methods and compositions disclosed herein are particularly useful for providing bioavailable biotin to mammals and treating or preventing symptoms of biotin deficiency.

Claims (10)

1. A method of maintaining healthy levels of biotin in a mammal comprising orally administering a composition comprising from about 10 mg to about 100 mg of isolated crystalline or isolated amorphous magnesium biotinate to the mammal.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated as one selected from the group consisting of a tablet, an aqueous suspension, an oil suspension, a dispersible powder, a dispersible granule, an emulsion, a hard capsule, a soft capsule, a syrup, an elixir, and a beverage.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mammal is a human.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnesium biotinate is magnesium D-biotinate.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnesium biotinate is not hygroscopic.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises at least one excipient.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises 10 mg of the magnesium biotinate.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnesium biotinate is enriched with respect to the D-enantiomer.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises an additional therapeutic agent.

10. A method of increasing bioavailable biotin levels in a mammal, comprising administering an effective amount of isolated crystalline or isolated amorphous magnesium biotinate to the mammal.
