Abstract

The methods and formulations include, but are not limited to, methods and formulations for delivering effective concentrations of levocetirizine and montelukast to a patient in need. The methods and formulations can comprise conventional and/or modified-release elements, providing for drug delivery to the patient. The combination can be useful during and following radiation exposure to ameliorate the inflammatory response.

24 . A method of treating a viral infection in a patient, wherein the viral infection is caused by coronavirus, the method comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a combination of levocetirizine and montelukast.

25 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the viral infection is a viral respiratory tract infection.

26 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the combination is administered at the onset of symptoms.

27 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the combination is administered in a sequential manner.

28 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the combination is administered in a substantially simultaneous manner.

29 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the combination is administered to the patient by one or more of the routes consisting of enteral, intravenous, intraperitoneal, inhalation, intramuscular, subcutaneous and oral.

30 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the levocetirizine and montelukast are administered by the same route.

31 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the combination further comprising a steroid.

32 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the combination further comprising a antiviral agent.

33 . A method of treating acute inflammation in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a combination of levocetirizine and montelukast, wherein the acute inflammation is caused by a viral infection, wherein the viral infection is caused by coronavirus.

34 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the combination is administered at the onset of symptoms.

35 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the combination is administered in a sequential manner.

36 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the combination is administered in a substantially simultaneous manner.

37 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the combination is administered to the patient by one or more of the routes consisting of enteral, intravenous, intraperitoneal, inhalation, intramuscular, subcutaneous and oral.

38 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the levocetirizine and montelukast are administered by the same route.

39 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the combination further comprising a steroid.

40 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the combination further comprising a antiviral agent.

A method of treating acute nasal and sinus inflammation in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a combination of levocetirizine and montelukast, wherein the acute inflammation is caused by a viral infection, wherein the viral infection is caused by coronavirus.
