Systems and methods for controlling a mobile device cover
View Patent ↗A mobile application running on a host mobile device is used to control the display of notifications, received by the host mobile device, on a mobile device cover. A single button on the mobile device cover is used to display, configure, and navigate through functionality menus of functions provided by the mobile device cover.
1. A mobile phone cover for use with a mobile phone, the mobile phone cover comprising:
a display configured to provide a notification according to a particular mobile application of a plurality of mobile applications on the mobile phone; and
a user interface operable to configure the notification, wherein the notification can also be configured by a graphical user interface of the mobile phone, wherein the mobile phone cover communicates wirelessly with the mobile phone when the mobile phone cover is separated from the mobile phone.
2. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the user interface comprises a graphical user interface on the display of the mobile phone cover.
3. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the notification is indicative of the particular mobile application.
4. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of mobile applications on the mobile phone comprises a phone call application, an email application, and a text message application.
5. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the notification is indicative a particular contact that initiated the particular mobile application.
6. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of mobile applications on the mobile phone comprises a social media application.
7. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover comprises a battery operable to charge the mobile phone according to the user interface of the mobile phone cover.
8. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the display of the mobile phone cover is configured to provide a status of a battery of the mobile phone cover.
9. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the display of the mobile phone cover is configured to provide a status of a battery of the mobile phone.
10. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the display is configured to repeat the notification according to the user interface of the mobile phone cover.
11. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the display is configured to provide an additional detail of the notification according to the user interface of the mobile phone cover.
12. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover comprises a wireless communication transceiver.
13. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the display is configured to provide a graphical user interface comprising a plurality of menus that are navigated according to a duration of an input from the user interface.
14. The mobile phone cover according to claim 13 , wherein:
a first duration corresponds to a first menu,
a second duration corresponds to a second menu, and
the first duration is different than the second duration.
15. The mobile phone cover according to claim 13 , wherein the plurality of menus are displayed successively on the display when the user interface is interacted with for at least a preset duration.
16. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover is a separate device from the mobile phone.
17. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover communicates wirelessly with the mobile phone.
18. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover comprises one or more cellular transceivers and is operable to communicate via a wireless cellular link.
19. The mobile phone cover according to claim 1 , wherein the mobile phone cover is a separate device from the mobile phone and is structured to receive the mobile phone, and wherein the received mobile phone is connected to the mobile phone cover via a USB-type connector.
20. A mobile phone cover for use with a mobile phone, the mobile phone cover comprising:
a display configured to provide a notification according to a particular mobile application of a plurality of mobile applications on the mobile phone; and
a user interface operable to configure the notification, wherein the notification can also be configured by a graphical user interface of the mobile phone, wherein the mobile phone cover is a separate device from the mobile phone and is structured to receive the mobile phone, and wherein the received mobile phone is connected to the mobile phone cover via a USB-type connector.
21. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the user interface comprises a graphical user interface on the display of the mobile phone cover.
22. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the notification is indicative of the particular mobile application.
23. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the plurality of mobile applications on the mobile phone comprises a phone call application, an email application, and a text message application.
24. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the notification is indicative a particular contact that initiated the particular mobile application.
25. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the plurality of mobile applications on the mobile phone comprises a social media application.
26. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the mobile phone cover comprises a battery operable to charge the mobile phone according to the user interface of the mobile phone cover.
27. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the display of the mobile phone cover is configured to provide a status of a battery of the mobile phone cover.
28. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the display of the mobile phone cover is configured to provide a status of a battery of the mobile phone.
29. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the display is configured to repeat the notification according to the user interface of the mobile phone cover.
30. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the display is configured to provide an additional detail of the notification according to the user interface of the mobile phone cover.
31. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the mobile phone cover comprises a wireless communication transceiver.
32. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the display is configured to provide a graphical user interface comprising a plurality of menus that are navigated according to a duration of an input from the user interface.
33. The mobile phone cover according to claim 32 , wherein:
a first duration corresponds to a first menu,
a second duration corresponds to a second menu, and
the first duration is different than the second duration.
34. The mobile phone cover according to claim 32 , wherein the plurality of menus are displayed successively on the display when the user interface is interacted with for at least a preset duration.
35. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the mobile phone cover communicates wirelessly with the mobile phone.
36. The mobile phone cover according to claim 20 , wherein the mobile phone cover comprises one or more cellular transceivers and is operable to communicate via a wireless cellular link.
