Connection failure information for packet duplication
Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for wireless communications. Devices may exchange information regarding a radio link failure and/or a handover. The information may comprise a radio link failure report which may comprise an indication of packet duplication.
1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a wireless device from a base station, a packet duplication activation command for duplication of one or more data packets associated with a first bearer;
sending, based on the packet duplication activation command, one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer;
determining a connection failure associated with a first cell of the base station;
determining, based on the connection failure, a second cell for a radio resource control communication; and
sending, via the second cell, a radio resource control message that indicates the connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was activated at a time associated with the connection failure.
2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, from the base station, an other radio resource control message comprising one or more packet duplication configuration parameters indicating that at least one of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer is duplicated.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more duplicated data packets comprise one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the connection failure comprises one or more of:
a radio link failure; or
a handover failure.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the connection failure is based on a quantity of radio link control retransmissions of one or more packets comprising the one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the connection failure is based on one or more of:
a quantity of radio link control retransmissions;
one or more out-of-sync detections; or
one or more random access failures.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first bearer is a signaling radio bearer.
8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sending the radio resource control message comprises sending, by the wireless device to the base station, the radio resource control message.
9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the connection failure comprises:
detecting, by the wireless device, that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more original packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the connection failure comprises:
detecting, by the wireless device, that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the base station comprises a first base station, and wherein the second cell is of at least one of the first base station or a second base station different from the first base station.
12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a first quantity of resources for a second wireless device,
wherein the method further comprises sending, via the second cell, a second radio resource control message that indicates a second connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was deactivated at a time associated with the second connection failure, and
wherein the second radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a second quantity of resources for the second wireless device, wherein the second quantity is greater than the first quantity.
13. A wireless device comprising:
one or more processors; and
memory storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:
receive, from a base station, a packet duplication activation command for duplication of one or more data packets associated with a first bearer;
send, based on the packet duplication activation command, one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer;
determine a connection failure associated with a first cell of the base station;
determine, based on the connection failure, a second cell for a radio resource control communication; and
send, via the second cell, a radio resource control message that indicates the connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was activated at a time associated with the connection failure.
14. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive, from the base station, an other radio resource control message comprising one or more packet duplication configuration parameters indicating that at least one of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer is duplicated.
15. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the one or more duplicated data packets comprise one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets.
16. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the connection failure comprises one or more of:
a radio link failure; or
a handover failure.
17. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to determine the connection failure based on a quantity of radio link control retransmissions of one or more packets comprising the one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer.
18. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to determine the connection failure based on one or more of:
a quantity of radio link control retransmissions;
one or more out-of-sync detections; or
one or more random access failures.
19. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the first bearer is a signaling radio bearer.
20. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to send the radio resource control message by sending, to the base station, the radio resource control message.
21. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to determine the connection failure by:
detecting that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more original packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
22. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to determine the connection failure by:
detecting that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
23. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the base station comprises a first base station, and wherein the second cell is of at least one of the first base station or a second base station different from the first base station.
24. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a first quantity of resources for a second wireless device,
wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to send, via the second cell, a second radio resource control message that indicates a second connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was deactivated at a time associated with the second connection failure, and
wherein the second radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a second quantity of resources for the second wireless device, wherein the second quantity is greater than the first quantity.
25. A system comprising:
a base station; and
a wireless device,
wherein the base station is configured to:
send, to the wireless device, a packet duplication activation command for duplication of one or more data packets associated with a first bearer, and
wherein the wireless device is configured to:
send, based on the packet duplication activation command, one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer;
determine a connection failure associated with a first cell of the base station;
determine, based on the connection failure, a second cell for a radio resource control communication; and
send, via the second cell, a radio resource control message that indicates the connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was activated at a time associated with the connection failure.
26. The system of claim 25 , wherein the wireless device is further configured to receive, from the base station, an other radio resource control message comprising one or more packet duplication configuration parameters indicating that at least one of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer is duplicated.
27. The system of claim 25 , wherein the one or more duplicated data packets comprise one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets.
28. The system of claim 25 , wherein the connection failure comprises one or more of:
a radio link failure; or
a handover failure.
29. The system of claim 25 , wherein the wireless device is configured to determine the connection failure based on a quantity of radio link control retransmissions of one or more packets comprising the one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer.
30. The system of claim 25 , wherein the wireless device is configured to determine the connection failure based on one or more of:
a quantity of radio link control retransmissions;
one or more out-of-sync detections; or
one or more random access failures.
31. The system of claim 25 , wherein the first bearer is a signaling radio bearer.
32. The system of claim 25 , wherein the wireless device is configured to send the radio resource control message by sending, to the base station, the radio resource control message.
33. The system of claim 25 , wherein the wireless device is configured to determine the connection failure by:
detecting that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more original packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
34. The system of claim 25 , wherein the wireless device is configured to determine the connection failure by:
detecting that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
35. The system of claim 25 , wherein the base station comprises a first base station, and wherein the second cell is of at least one of the first base station or a second base station different from the first base station.
36. The system of claim 25 , wherein the radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a first quantity of resources for a second wireless device,
wherein the wireless device is further configured to send, via the second cell, a second radio resource control message that indicates a second connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was deactivated at a time associated with the second connection failure, and
wherein the second radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a second quantity of resources for the second wireless device, wherein the second quantity is greater than the first quantity.
37. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, configure a wireless device to:
receive, by a wireless device from a base station, a packet duplication activation command for duplication of one or more data packets associated with a first bearer;
send, based on the packet duplication activation command, one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer;
determine a connection failure associated with a first cell of the base station;
determine, based on the connection failure, a second cell for a radio resource control communication; and
send, via the second cell, a radio resource control message that indicates the connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was activated at a time associated with the connection failure.
38. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to receive, from the base station, an other radio resource control message comprising one or more packet duplication configuration parameters indicating that at least one of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer is duplicated.
39. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the one or more duplicated data packets comprise one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets.
40. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the connection failure comprises one or more of:
a radio link failure; or
a handover failure.
41. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the wireless device to determine the connection failure based on a quantity of radio link control retransmissions of one or more packets comprising the one or more duplicated data packets associated with the first bearer.
42. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the wireless device to determine the connection failure based on one or more of:
a quantity of radio link control retransmissions;
one or more out-of-sync detections; or
one or more random access failures.
43. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the first bearer is a signaling radio bearer.
44. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the wireless device to send the radio resource control message by causing sending, to the base station, the radio resource control message.
45. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the wireless device to determine the connection failure by causing:
detecting that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more original packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
46. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the instructions, when executed, configure the wireless device to determine the connection failure by causing:
detecting that a quantity of radio link control (RLC) layer packet retransmissions associated with one or more duplicated packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packets of the one or more data packets associated with the first bearer satisfies a threshold value; and
determining, based on the detection, one of a radio link failure or a handover failure.
47. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the base station comprises a first base station, and wherein the second cell is of at least one of the first base station or a second base station different from the first base station.
48. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 37 , wherein the radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a first quantity of resources for a second wireless device,
wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the wireless device to send, via the second cell, a second radio resource control message that indicates a second connection failure and that indicates that packet duplication was deactivated at a time associated with the second connection failure, and
wherein the second radio resource control message is configured to cause the base station to allocate a second quantity of resources for the second wireless device, wherein the second quantity is greater than the first quantity.
