Abstract

Systems and methods to process and/or present information relating to voice messages for a user that are received from other persons. In one embodiment, a method implemented in a data processing system includes: receiving first data associated with prior communications or activities for a first user on a mobile device; receiving a voice message for the first user; transcribing the voice message using the first data to provide a transcribed message; and sending the transcribed message to the mobile device for display to the user.

Claims (35)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a processor, a transcription of a voice message, the voice message comprising audio and the transcription comprising a text representation of the audio;

identifying, by the processor, a keyword in the text representation; and

displaying, by the processor, an interface, the interface comprising:

a visual indicator indicating a playback progress of playing back the audio; and

a text area including the text representation, wherein a visual appearance of the keyword in the text representation is modified prior to display of the text representation in the text area.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the interface further includes a visual cursor, the visual cursor indicating the position of the playback progress relative to the text representation.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the appearance of the keyword comprises modifying a display attribute of the keyword.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the appearance of the keyword comprises associating an action with the keyword.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the keyword comprises identifying a communications medium identified in the text representation.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein identifying the keyword comprises identifying a caller name in the text representation.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a list of contacts, the list of contacts including users identified in the text representation.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for tangibly storing computer program instructions capable of being executed by a computer processor, the computer program instructions defining the steps of:

receiving, by the computer processor, a transcription of a voice message, the voice message comprising audio and the transcription comprising a text representation of the audio;

identifying, by the computer processor, a keyword in the text representation; and

displaying, by the computer processor, an interface, the interface comprising:

a visual indicator indicating a playback progress of playing back the audio; and

a text area including the text representation, wherein a visual appearance of the keyword in the text representation is modified prior to display of the text representation in the text area.

9. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the interface further includes a visual cursor, the visual cursor indicating the position of the playback progress relative to the text representation.

10. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein modifying the appearance of the keyword comprises modifying a display attribute of the keyword.

11. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein modifying the appearance of the keyword comprises associating an action with the keyword.

12. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein identifying the keyword comprises identifying a communications medium identified in the text representation.

13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein identifying the keyword comprises identifying a caller name in the text representation.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , the computer program instructions further defining the step of displaying a list of contacts, the list of contacts including users identified in the text representation.

15. A device comprising:

a processor; and

a storage medium for tangibly storing thereon program logic for execution by the processor, the stored program logic comprising:

logic, executed by the processor, for receiving a transcription of a voice message, the voice message comprising audio and the transcription comprising a text representation of the audio;

logic, executed by the processor, for identifying a keyword in the text representation; and

logic, executed by the processor, for displaying an interface, the interface comprising: a visual indicator indicating a playback progress of playing back the audio; and a text area including the text representation, wherein a visual appearance of the keyword in the text representation is modified prior to display of the text representation in the text area.

16. The device of claim 15 , wherein the interface further includes a visual cursor, the visual cursor indicating the position of the playback progress relative to the text representation.

17. The device of claim 15 , wherein modifying the appearance of the keyword comprises modifying a display attribute of the keyword.

18. The device of claim 15 , wherein modifying the appearance of the keyword comprises associating an action with the keyword.

19. The device of claim 15 , wherein identifying the keyword comprises identifying a communications medium identified in the text representation.

20. The device of claim 15 , wherein identifying the keyword comprises identifying a caller name in the text representation.
