Abstract

A laser level including a control mechanism housing which houses a control mechanism, the control mechanism including at least a top surface and a bottom surface. A protective structure extends from the control mechanism housing configured to protect the control mechanism from impact and including an upper structure which extends from a top surface of the control mechanism housing and a lower structure which extends from a bottom surface of the control mechanism housing.

Claims (57)

1. A laser level comprising:

a control mechanism housing;

a laser projector which projects a laser beam onto a surface;

a first protective structure extending from the control mechanism housing, the first protective structure comprising a plurality of first legs and a plurality of first flanges;

a second protective structure extending from the control mechanism housing, the second protective structure comprising a plurality of second legs and a plurality of second flanges;

a removable battery pack connected to the mechanism housing and disposed between one of the plurality of first flanges and one of the plurality of second flanges; and

wherein the plurality of first legs are made of a different material than the plurality of first flanges.

2. The laser level of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of first flanges extends above the laser projector at least when the plurality of second flanges are positioned on a flat surface.

3. The laser level of claim 1 , further comprising a control mechanism, the control mechanism including at least one lens and a laser diode.

4. The laser level of claim 3 , wherein the control mechanism includes a controller.

5. The laser level of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of second legs are made of a different material than the plurality of second flanges.

6. A laser level comprising:

a mechanism housing;

a laser projector which projects a laser beam onto a surface;

a first protective structure, the first protective structure comprising a plurality of first legs and a plurality of first flanges;

a second protective structure, the second protective structure comprising a plurality of second legs and a plurality of second flanges;

wherein the plurality of first legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of first flanges;

wherein the plurality of second legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of second flanges; and

wherein the plurality of second legs extend outwardly and downwardly from the mechanism housing.

7. The laser level of claim 6 , wherein the plurality of first legs extend outwardly and downwardly from the mechanism housing.

8. The laser level of claim 6 , further comprising a removable battery pack connected to the mechanism housing and disposed between one of the plurality of first flanges and one of the plurality of second flanges.

9. The laser level of claim 8 , wherein the removable battery pack is a power tool battery pack.

10. A laser level comprising:

a mechanism housing;

a laser projector which projects a laser beam onto a surface;

a first protective structure, the first protective structure comprising a plurality of first legs and a plurality of first flanges;

a second protective structure, the second protective structure comprising a plurality of second legs and a plurality of second flanges;

wherein the plurality of first legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of first flanges;

wherein the plurality of second legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of second flanges;

wherein the plurality of first flanges are parallel to the plurality of second flanges.

11. The laser level of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of first flanges are parallel to one another.

12. The laser level of claim 11 , wherein the plurality of second flanges are parallel to one another.

13. The laser level of claim 12 , further comprising first spaces between the mechanism housing and the first flanges.

14. The laser level of claim 13 , further comprising second spaces between the mechanism housing and the second flanges.

15. The laser level of claim 10 , further comprising a removable battery pack connected to the mechanism housing and disposed between one of the plurality of first flanges and one of the plurality of second flanges.

16. A laser level comprising:

a mechanism housing;

a laser projector which projects a laser beam onto a surface;

a first protective structure, the first protective structure comprising a plurality of first legs and a plurality of first flanges;

a second protective structure, the second protective structure comprising a plurality of second legs and a plurality of second flanges;

wherein the plurality of first legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of first flanges;

wherein the plurality of second legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of second flanges; and

wherein the plurality of first flanges comprises at least three first flanges.

17. The laser level of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of second flanges comprises at least three second flanges.

18. A laser level comprising:

a mechanism housing;

a laser projector configured to project a laser beam onto a surface;

a first protective structure, the first protective structure comprising a plurality of first legs and a plurality of first flanges;

a second protective structure, the second protective structure comprising a plurality of second legs and a plurality of second flanges;

a battery pack receptacle on the mechanism housing, the battery pack receptacle configured to receive a removable battery pack;

wherein the plurality of first legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of first flanges;

wherein the plurality of second legs extend outwardly from the mechanism housing to the plurality of second flanges; and

wherein the mechanism housing is made out of a rigid material.

19. The laser level of claim 18 , wherein the plurality of first flanges are parallel to the plurality of second flanges;
