Abstract

A vehicle retrofit system comprising a storage receptacle, a collapsible privacy/shower curtain receptacle, a folding counter assembly, and a seat/bed conversion assembly each of which is configured to be contained and deployed within an interior of a vehicle.

Claims (14)

1. A modular seat/bed conversion assembly for use within the interior of a recreational vehicle, the seat/bed conversion assembly comprising:

a substantially horizontal seat configured to pivot forward substantially 180 degrees about a first axis;

a backrest configured to be maneuvered between a substantially vertical position to a substantially horizontal position and at least one of a plurality of positions in between with respect to the seat, the backrest comprising:

a lower portion configured to pivot in a first direction about a second axis from a first position to a second position and while in the second position the lower portion is flush with and forms an extended substantially horizontal seating surface with the pivoted seat; and

an upper portion configured to pivot substantially 180 degrees in a second direction opposite the first direction about a third axis from a third position to a fourth position.

2. The modular seat/bed conversion assembly of claim 1 , wherein the upper portion of the backrest is removable.

3. The modular seat/bed conversion assembly of claim 2 , wherein the removable upper portion of the backrest can be placed lengthwise across the assembly resulting in a sofa configuration.

4. The modular seat/bed conversion assembly of claim 1 , wherein the upper portion of the backrest, when in the third position, may be used as a pillow to support a user's head or upper body.

5. The modular seat/bed conversion assembly of claim 1 , wherein when the seat is pivoted forward substantially 180 degrees, when the lower portion of the backrest is pivoted to the second position, when the upper portion of the backrest is rotated to the fourth position, and when the backrest is in the substantially horizontal position, the backrest and the seat are substantially coplanar thus forming an elongated sleeping surface.

6. A method of converting a seat assembly to a bed assembly for use within the interior of a recreational vehicle, the seat assembly comprising a seat portion and a backrest portion, the backrest portion including a lower portion and an upper portion, the method comprising:

pivoting the seat portion forward substantially 180 degrees around a first axis until it forms a partial seating surface;

pivoting the lower portion of the backrest portion in a first direction about a second axis from a first position to a second position and while in the second position the lower portion is flush with and forms an extended seating surface with the pivoted seat;

pivoting the upper portion of the backrest portion substantially 180 degrees in a second direction opposite the first direction about a third axis from a third position to a fourth position; and

maneuvering the backrest portion to a substantially horizontal position, wherein the backrest portion and the extended seating surface are substantially coplanar thus forming an elongated sleeping surface.
