Abstract

An integrated combustor nozzle includes a combustion liner that extends between an inner liner segment and an outer liner segment along a radial direction. The combustion liner including a forward end portion, an aft end portion, a first side wall, and a second side wall. An impingement panel having an impingement plate disposed along an exterior surface of one of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment. The impingement plate defines a plurality of impingement apertures that direct coolant in discrete jets towards the exterior surface of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment. The impingement panel includes an inlet portion that extends from the impingement plate to a collection duct. The impingement panel further includes a plurality of supports spaced apart from one another. The plurality of supports extend between, and are coupled to, the inlet portion, the collection duct, and the impingement plate.

Claims (28)

1. An integrated combustor nozzle comprising:

a combustion liner extending along a radial direction between an inner liner segment and an outer liner segment, the combustion liner including a forward end portion, an aft end portion, a pressure side wall, and a suction side wall, the aft end portion of the combustion liner defining a turbine nozzle; and

an impingement panel comprising:

an impingement plate defining an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface spaced apart from and extending along an exterior surface of one of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment such that a cooling flow gap is defined between the inner surface and the exterior surface, wherein the impingement plate defines a plurality of impingement apertures that direct coolant in discrete jets towards the exterior surface of the one of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment;

a collection duct spaced apart from the impingement plate and defining a collection passage;

an inlet portion including side walls that extend from the outer surface of the impingement plate to the collection duct; and

at least one support extending between and coupled to the impingement plate, a side wall of the inlet portion, and the collection duct.

2. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 1 , wherein the at least one support extends from a first end fixedly coupled to the impingement plate to a second end fixedly coupled to the collection duct.

3. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 2 , wherein the at least one support includes a first side and a second side that extend between the first end and the second end, and wherein the first side is fixedly coupled to the inlet portion.

4. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 3 , wherein the second side of the at least one support forms an angle with the impingement plate that is between about 10° and about 75°.

5. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 1 , wherein the at least one support forms an angle with the inlet portion that is between about 10° and about 90°.

6. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 1 , wherein the impingement panel comprises a plurality of impingement panel segments coupled together.

7. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 6 , wherein each impingement panel segment of the plurality of impingement panel segments extends between a first end of the impingement panel segment and a second end of the impingement panel segment, and wherein the first end includes a flange that extends from the impingement plate of the impingement panel segment, the flange integrally formed with the impingement panel segment.

8. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 7 , wherein an end plate is fixedly coupled to the second end of at least one impingement panel segment of the plurality of impingement panel segments, and wherein the end plate couples the second end of the at least one impingement panel segment to a respective flange of a neighboring impingement panel segment.

9. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 8 , wherein the flange is generally perpendicular to the impingement plate.

10. The integrated combustor nozzle as in claim 1 , wherein one or more cavities are defined between the pressure side wall and the suction side wall, the one or more cavities spaced apart from the collection duct.

11. A method for fabricating an impingement panel, comprising:

an integrated combustor nozzle comprising:

a combustion liner extending along a radial direction between an inner liner segment and an outer liner segment, the combustion liner including a forward end portion, an aft end portion, a pressure side wall, and a suction side wall, the aft end portion of the combustion liner defining a turbine nozzle; and

the impingement panel comprising:

an impingement plate defining an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface spaced apart from and extending along an exterior surface of one of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment such that a cooling flow gap is defined between the inner surface and the exterior surface, wherein the impingement plate defines a plurality of impingement apertures that direct coolant in discrete jets towards the exterior surface of the one of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment;

a collection duct spaced apart from the impingement plate and defining a collection passage;

an inlet portion including side walls that extend from the outer surface of the impingement plate to the collection duct; and

at least one support extending between and coupled to the impingement plate, a side wall of the inlet portion, and the collection duct;

the method of fabricating the impingement panel further comprising:

(a) irradiating a layer of powder in a powder bed to form a fused region, the powder bed disposed on a build plate;

(b) providing a subsequent layer of powder over the powder bed by passing a recoater arm over the powder bed from a first side of the powder bed; and

(c) repeating steps (a) and (b) until the impingement panel is formed on the build plate.
